BE SERIOUS ABOUT PURCHASING - TOO MANY PEOPLE BID AND BACK OUT WHEN THEY WIN.
Rare M-38A1 (M38A1) "Willys MD" (Military version predecessor to civilian CJ-5). Complete restoration - Frame off. Re-built 1965 Ford 289 V8. Less than 50 miles on rebuilt engine. Rebuilt T-90 transmission with hardened gears. Rebuilt Dana 20 transfer case. Both axels are Dana and have been completely rebuilt including new pinion seals, new bearings, and fresh gaskets and fluids. The entire brake system is brand new, including new wheel cylinders, a new master cylinder, new brake lines and new shoes and drums. Interior is new weather resistant fabricant and includes a rare bench seating and fold down rear bench. New belts. The paint is absolutely bulletproof and shot with Line X brand coating. The color turns heads! The coating makes her resistant to scratches, dents and bad weather. No rust anywhere. Every inch of wiring is new and all of the gages are new and working. A real beast for the road - on or off.
From Kaiserwillys.com:The M38A1 was the first vehicle to feature the round fender design that would later become the distinguishing body style of the CJ-5 (part of the Universal CJ series). Produced first in 1952, following the retirement of the M38 model, the M38-A1 was re-designed as an “stand-alone” improvement, featuring round front fenders, a contoured hood, a two-piece windshield, top mounted windshield wipers, and powered by the new “Hurricane” F-Head engine and Warner T90 transmission. The M38A1 (referred to by Willys as the “MD”), like the M38, had a frame and suspension that was much stronger than its civilian sibling, the CJ-5. With reversed spring shackles, military instruments, and a 24-volt electrical system, the M38A1 was a strong military work horse that was frequently fitted with a machine gun.
