You are looking at a 1968 Kaiser Jeep J2000 Gladiator pickup truck. This is a project truck. It rolls and steers but does not drive or run currently. Frame is very solid but body does have rust, there are dings and dents over most of the body but that is a look I was going for. If you want a show truck this probably isn't for you... I have another show truck that I hate anyone to touch. I wanted this to be a fun driver that another dent would only add to the farm truck aesthetics.
I started this project by rebuilding the original motor only to find out it still didn't have much power and wasn't practical for a 4x4. I decided to ditch the 4x4 and original 6cyl and it would be fun to put in a ford modular V8 I had from a 2000 Mustang GT donor. I wanted to modernize the truck so it would have a vintage farm truck look and modern conveniences like power steering and brakes, automatic transmission, and reliable starting with fuel injection. I swapped in the V8 motor, automatic trans with OD, hydroboost, and added power steering. I deleted the heater box and old gauge cluster. I am using the stock mustang gauges and harness.Still maintains the original front end and rear axle set up. front hub bearing were done right before I started the project so decided to keep them going for now. You could always do a mustang 2 front end swap in the future if you wanted.
Pairing downthe harness to get rid of unneeded wires is where I'm at and what is taking the most time. Unfortunately with work and life I don't have the time to finish the truck and now my truck isbetter known as"Project Pissed Wife" to the locals... and wife doesn't want me to spend all my time on it.. so happy wife happy life I'm told... Luckily for you I do have a 2000 Mustang Ford Service manual for the electrical and another shop manual for the Ford V8 that you can follow to make life easier finishing the conversion. Its all miscellaneous stuff at this point and time to complete the project.
The mustang fuel tank has been sunk into the truck bed and is covered with wooden crate to maintain vintage look. I was going to paint "TNT" or "Moonshine" on the box for a vintage look hide the fill neck in Gerry Can next to the crate. Fuel lines and brake lines need to be run, drive shaft needs to be installed(may need shortening but I have the Jeep and mustang shafts included). Wiring under hood is still complete mustang harness and hasn't been messed with so you can just route to your liking or remove most of the unneeded wires that you want. I was going to strip these back minimum and move fuse block and battery into cab. Wiring inside cab hasstarted to bepaired down and unneeded systems like convertible top, power seats, airbags and others that wont be used have been removed from the harness. Bench seat has just been reupholstered too. Gauges have been test fit but need finished. Trans tunnel cover will need to be fabricated and shifter mounted. No exhaust system beyond factory headers.
Truck does have a Pennsylvania Antique title. if you want the antique plate I'm happy to sell and transfer those with it too if we reach a fair price for both of us. I may have other parts as well if you are looking for anything else let me know.
I'm happy to help load on truck if you want it shipped but it does not run and is heavy so make sure you pick a shipping company that can load it by winch if needed.I'm sure I'm missing something so feel free to ask. $1000 deposit by paypal required at time of winning bid. remainder due within 7 days and truck must be picked up within 2 weeks of auction closing. Thanks again happy bidding!
