My 1989 Grand Wagoneer is a fine example of a low miles, eliable smooth running Grand Wagoneer, ut sadly I have to sell this one. I have too many classic vehicles and not enought time to enjoy them all.
The odometer has just reached 51,000 miles and its still just as beautiful as it was when it came off the lot. The stunning black exterior paint complimented by the factory original wood grain sides and mouldings really enhance the classic styling of this Jeep. Open the drivers door and it gets even better. The plush pristine sand colored interior shows minimal wear and tear. Look around and you will see all the luxury options available in its day. I believe this wagon is equipped with just about every option offered in 1989, ncluding a power sunroof.
Despite its stunning appearance it does show the typical patina you will find on an un-restored vehicle. I personally prefer them this way. It adds character and keeps it authentic and original.
On close inspection of the bumpers, rille surround and side marker lenses you will see light scratches and wear. But these small imperfections are hardly visible and one of the great things about the Wagoneers is that the alumium bumpers they came with are not chrome and can be polished to a high gloss shine.
Paint is not original. The wood grain is original and wood mouldings are in excellent shape. Over all the exterior is well above average driver quality and often receives comments like " wow this Jeep is pristine!"
In addition to the appearence of this Jeep it is also very mechanical sound and reliable. Many parts have been replaced and the motor has been upgraded with an MSD high energy ignition system to allow it to run on pump gas. One of the biggest issues with the Grand Wagoneer as well as any carburated engine equipped with a stock iginition system is burning fuel that is blended with ethinol. OEM ignition systems from 1989 and early vehicles do not have the capacity to allow the engine to fully combust enthinal. The solution is a properly installed high engergy ignition system and larger 8mm spark plug wires that will enable the motor to more efficiently burn the fuel. The result is a smoother idle, risp throttle response and easier start up.
Ride quality and safety was also considered when mechanical work was being completed. This wagon was fitted with new brakes front and rear including brake lines, hocks and exhaust system and a thorough overhaul of the the front axels and hubs was performed.
Below is a complete list of work completed and new parts installed.
Removed and flushed fuel tank.
Replaced fuel return lines and vent lines. (any rubber fuel line on a vehicle this old will be deteriorated and should be replaced)
