Description

Up for auction is an absolutely stunning original Jaguar XJ-S with 30k actual miles! This car does have a low reserve.
The original Signal Red paint is as close to flawless as the day it left the factory! I would have to say that this is one of the nicest 31 year old original paint cars I have ever seen! When I bought the car I guessed that the car had been resprayed at some point. I spoke with the previous owners son, who owned the car for 28 years. He informed me that it was in fact the original paint! The chrome on the car is next to perfect as well, other then a slight peel on the passenger headlight bezel. The antenna is broke off at the base and will require a new one. The top is also original to the car and is also in perfect shape. The headliner does have a small tear. The original Barley leather interior is in very nice shape, but a piece of piping is coming out of the drivers side back rest. All of the wood trim is in very nice shape, as is the carpet and door panels. The original Pirelli tires were changed out this summer with B.F. Goodrich. Unfortunately, by the time I learned this and called the tire shop that did the work, the original Pirellis had been discarded. The wheels are in excellent shape with no "curb rash". The Jaguar has absolutely NO rust what so ever. I drove it to my parents yesterday to put it on the hoist for pictures, but I could not find a good lifting point on the front of the car, so I didn't chance it. I took the best pictures I could of the underneath side. The Jag comes with it's original owners manual, warranty booklet, factory Pirelli tire booklet, radio booklet, radio code card, original Jaguar owners cassette tape, two sets of keys and a valet key, and factory cassette cleaning kit.
The V-12 runs and drives like a 30k mile engine should. This is the first V-12 Jaguar I have owned, and what a road car! The trip to my parents was about 80 miles round trip, and I enjoyed every bit of it! I drove 75-80 mph the whole way up there and back, without her missing a beat! The transmission shifts smooth into every gear. The valve cover gaskets are starting to leak a little, nothing that requires immediate attention, however at some point in the future they will need to be changed.
All the electrical gizmos work with the exception of the tachometer, and cruise control. Ihave not had them looked at.The radio was working till I tried to stick a cassette in, and now the radio thinks there is a tape in there andwill not switch back to radio. These tape decks aremechanical, and with somebody knowing more about it then me,should be able toswitch it back to radio. The Climate Control works well in the car. However, it hasn't been warm enough here to kickthe Air Conditioner on, so I can't tell you if it needs charged or not.
The car was sold new on 12-10-1988 at AC Imports, in Palatine, IL, to Mary Annand Daryl Boddicker. AC Imports was bought out, but the new dealership has record of thiscar getting a radiator flush and fill on 8-1-90, with only 2800 miles on the clock! The car ended up at Almeida's Classic Cars in Turlock, CA in 1992. It was thenpurchased in 1992 by Bartand Judy Hultineof Hastings, NE. According to their son,the car wasjudged as a 98 percent concourse car.The car belonged to Judy, it was her prideand joy, and she drove it only in the summer. He assured me that the car wore it's original paint and interior, and never was abused in any way. Bart raced MG's in the 50's and 60's in places like Watkins Glen, so most of the servicing was done by Bart or his son Marc. Bartand Judy had other classic Jaguarsand MG's as well. Bart passed away 11 years ago and Judy passed away in December of last year. The car was then bought at Bart and Judy'sestate sale on 3-24-20, by Craig Space as aninvestment. Craig then sold the car to me lastweekend as aninvestment. Bart and Judy's son Marc gave me permission to pass his phone number to the next owner in case they have anyquestions about the car over their 28 year span of ownership.
This is a spectacularexampleof anoriginal XJ-S, andwould be very niceaddition to any Jaguar collection!
