Car description

I am regretfully selling my father's 120 which has been part of our family for over 40 years. Please take a moment to check out the video link below, which shows the car's beautiful lines in motion.
My father was a lifelong XK120 owner, acquiring his first car--a coupe--in 1957. Over the next 20 years, he owned several more 120s a few of which he drove across the country. He finally settled on this 1950 model, a rust-free car, in 1977. In 1980, he had a professional body shop change the paint from red to white. He bought a new top from Bassett's in the same year and had the seats reupholstered with leather he acquired on a trip to England. I was just a small kid, but I can recall accompanying my father on a trip to Rhode Island in 1980 to pick up the top and other materials.
We attended a few local shows in the early 1980s and the Jag was featured on a plaque and advertisement for the Sports Car Club of America. Over the next three decades, the car was used for pleasure. From 1977 to 2011 service was performed by my father's friend, an accomplished local mechanic who also worked on 300SLs. I had the car serviced by a British car repair shop, with receipts totaling over $6,000 to make it safe and reliable for me to take my father on pleasure trips on weekends.
The car makes a nice appearance and attracts many admirers at Cars and Coffee. Men and women are drawn to its well-earned patina, and especially the aroma of the leather seats. Given its originality, I've been invited to show it at a local concours in the Survivor Class.
This is a nice example of a largely original Jaguar. It was never a basket case. Nor did it change hands with multiple owners over the past few decades. It shows wear from age, not abuse or a poor restoration.
As the pictures attempt to depict, the car has scratches and dents, all of which probably occurred inside a packed garage. To my knowledge, it has never seen serious rust, and to demonstrate, there is evidence of the original pastel blue paint in the trunk area. The felt carpet has seen damage due to moths. The top shows some wear from being folded for decades. I had trouble getting it to latch onto the windshield frame. The chrome bumpers show some pitting, the brass windshield frame is pitted, and the driver window is cracked.
Mechanically, the Jag feels great. It has lots of torque and stopping power. It handles well after work was done to the suspension in 2015. It's never left me stranded. Please watch the video to see the car in motion.
The gas gauge, speedo, and tach do not function. However, the oil pressure and water temp gauge are functional.
The engine and head are original. The top of the transmission was removed at some point, for unknown reasons. My father's mechanic does not remember repairing it. I have the correct lid, which I put on a different transmission and this is included in the sale. I don't know about the markings on the transmission that's in the car or if they match.
A new front wiring harness is included, along with an exhaust system.
A literature collection is also included, although most was probably acquired at various flea markets through the years.
