According to documentation supplied with the car, this 1953 Jaguar XK120 spent 25 years from 1960 to 1985 sitting in a barn before a very extensive, full body restoration. The restoration was completed in 1995 on a structurally straight and rust free body and frame by the second owner. In 2002, Roger Corea of Harwood-Enterprises of Victor, New York consigned the Jaguar and sold the car to David Witzke who shipped it to his home state of South Dakota. As a classic Jaguar collector David added this prized Jaguar to his collection and parked it between his 1954 Jaguar XK140 and 1974 Jaguar XKE. I was told that David put very few miles on the car and the Jaguar was mainly used as a show piece in his car museum. As the fourth owner, I purchased the Jaguar in 2016 from the Witzke Estate. As a dream of mine, I have always wanted to own a 1953 Jaguar XK120 since the first time I saw one. I've driven the Jaguar less than 50 miles. I consider the Jaguar more as a piece of art with its swooping and streamlined design and sex appeal. Living in Minnesota we are limited to a couple months in the summer to drive our cars, so I decided that the Jaguar was better off with a buyer who could drive it more!
As mentioned earlier the full body off restoration was completed in 1995. Everything was completely rebuilt or replaced. During the restoration the Jaguar was completely disassembled and sandblasted. The rust free body was finished in Chameleon Red with Biscuit Connolly Leather Interior. The Jaguar's paint is in overall good condition, with only minor blemishes visible upon close inspection considering it was painted in 1995. All numbers on this car are matching; engine, transmission, chassis and body. The DOHC 3.4L INLINE 6 engine was completely rebuilt with less than 1000 miles on it since completion. The odometer reads 90225 miles and is not currently operational however the speedometer does work. The four speed manual transmission shifts nicely. The double side-draft SU H6 carburetors are running properly. It has been fitted with an all new electrical harness. The new interior has been installed featuring the same materials that were originally specified by Jaguar Cars LTD of Coventry, England. Over $3500 has been invested in this beautiful Connolly Leather interior. A newer, correct and handmade tan canvas convertible top cover comes with the car. The windows roll up properly and the glass is free of blemishes or cracks. The mahogany wood dash is in decent shape and has the brass plate stating that this car was an Exact Replica of the record-breaking car which achieved 132.6MPH at Jabbeke, Belgium. All the chrome including the bumpers, grill, headlight bezels, tail lights, luggage rack, mirrors and trim were either replated or replaced. The Jaguar has independent torsion bar front suspension, semi-elliptic leaf springs, and all-around drum brakes. In addition, it has a newer stainless steel exhaust system. It has the original solid wheels and rear fender skirts. Overall this 1953 Jaguar XK120 would be a great investment for the enthusiast looking to purchase an extremely rare and collectible vehicle.
