Car description |

This E-Type, chassis # 1R41415, Series 2, 2+2 coupe, six cylinder 4.2L, manual transmission, comes to you as a matching numbers example that was delivered new to the previous owner who lived in Texas/Florida. The car has about 59,850 miles. I am the second owner in southeast Michigan and have owned the car since 2010. Once in Michigan, it was only driven in the summer, and spends its winters in a heated garage. When delivered to the original owner it was pale primrose, but he had it painted the Jag correct regency red. The interior is a somewhat uncommon Cinnamon color.
The car has had a lot of recent restoration. Cosmetically it shows as a presentable car, but by no means should be considered a show car. Below is a plus/minus list of the car and the work that has been performed on it. In the summer time, I used this Jag many days to drive to work (50 miles round trip).
Pluses (see pictures):
· The original tool bag and tools comes with the car.
· The original literature from the original owner is included. This has the oil change and service reports from the late 1960's into the 1970's, super cool!!
· The original owner metal stamped tag is also included. This is very rare!!
· I have found no visible rust on the car. It is a very solid car. I have done no repairs for rust.
· The original owner installed a new fuel pump on.
· A new speedometer gear was installed on the transmission about a year ago, and the speedometer works well.
· The master brake cylinder was rebuilt about 4 months ago.
· A new clutch master cylinder and slave cylinder were installed about 1 year ago.
· The car has the correct Vredestein tires, 185HR15. These were purchased by me and have about 3000 miles on them.
· New Dayton wire wheels (4) were purchased about two years ago. These are very nice!
· I replaced the Series 2 knockoffs with new Series 1 style knockoffs.
· The knockoff tool comes with the car.
· The radiator was removed, cleaned, rodded, pressure tested, and painted by a local radiator shop. It has no leaks that I'm aware of.
· The radiator fans and housing were cleaned and painted.
· The front shocks were changed about 5 years ago.
· The front rotors and pads were replaced about 5 years ago.
· The front wheel bearings were changed about 5 years ago.
· A new heater core was purchased. The heater box was removed, sandblasted and painted about five years ago.
· The heater blower motor was changed out to the "Fiero heater motor upgrade" This was done because the original blower is very weak (a known defect with jags, see jaglovers for further explanations). The original motor will come with the car, if the new owner wishes to convert back.
The engine head was removed and refurbished. The head deck was cleaned and trued, the valve seats were grounded, the head flushed of all build-up, the right size valve shims were installed, new valve seals installed, and the head was refitted to the block with all new SS head bolts and SS nuts. This work was done about 6 years ago. The cylinder walls were inspected at the time and no wear was found, so no cylinder block work was done.· The engine is clean and runs very strong with great oil pressure.
· A new thermostat was installed about five years ago.
· The valve covers were cleaned and painted.
· Front bumpers and rear bumpers have been re-chromed, about seven years ago. They are very nice with no pits.
· The body rubber was replaced between the front and rear bumpers.
· The front headlight surrounds were re-chromed about seven years ago.
· The front window trim was re-chromed about seven years ago.
· The windshield washer fluid feed lines were replaced about three years ago. The washer does work.
· The twin Stromberg carburetors were rebuilt about seven years ago. The carburetors work well, and the car idles around 750 RPM.
·
· All the glass is original with no visible problems.
· The headlight dipper switch was replaced.
· Both headlights were replaced about six years ago.
· All lights work (headlights, turn signal, brake, and interior).
· There are no known electrical issues. Electrical problems are common in these Jags.
· The front seats have been reupholstered with the correct leather. The rear seats are original and were not changed because they were not in bad condition.
· The glove box between the front seats was reupholstered.
· The sun visors have been reupholstered.
· All seat belts are original.
· New spark plugs, rotor and spark plug wires.
· The rear hatch rubber was replaced.
· The hood rubber by the dash has been replaced.
· The rear silencers were replaced about six years ago.
· The driveshaft was removed cleaned and had new u-joints (2) installed about three years ago.
· The rear end was removed and refurbished about four years ago. The rear bearings were changed, new GAZ spring and shocks were added, new body rubber mounts were added, all u-joints (4) on the half shafts were changed, half shaft painted, and new pads on the rear brakes.
Now the minuses (see pictures):
· The paint job is not great, it's a "20-footerâ€. See current photos in this auction.
· The engine leaks oil. My guess is the rear seal, not sure.
· The car had air conditioning at one time. The compressor and coil are missing. The vents are still in the interior. As a sport car, I never worried about having air conditioning.
· The headliner is stained. I have purchased new headliner material, that I will include. I have not had the time to install it yet.
· The car has a modern stereo (an Alpine) and modern speakers installed. This could be considered a plus.
· The rear seat is original leather, but it does have some stains.
· There are two broken corners on the rear exhaust manifold where it bolted to the downpipe. The exhaust is original, except for the tailpipe silencers. It seems ok, but is original as far as I can tell.
· The steering wheel is original, and the wood could use refinishing (see pictures).
· All dashboard buttons are original and a little tried looking (see pictures).
· The carpet on the driver side is gone. All other carpet is original, and in decent condition.
· The driver side inside SS door trim is not on. I have the piece of trim, but it is bent. It will be included.
· The thermoswitch to control the radiator cooling fans does not work. The cooling fans are controlled by a switch on the dashboard.
· The heater bypass tubes in the dash are no longer present, the heater valve is missing and the heater core is not connected.
Overall, I am offering a great, reliable E-Type, with a lot of mechanical restoration inside and out; this is an excellent opportunity for any enthusiast. Please call or reply through Ebay with any questions. I can supply other pictures if needed.
This car is being offered as-is, where-is. All sales are final with no refunds. The winner of the auction/Buy It Now is responsible for all transportation arrangements and costs. The winner of the auction/Buy It Now will be required to pay a $500 non-refundable deposit to my Paypal account at the close of the auction. The balance of the payment will be required within a week by a bank money wire transfer to my bank account or a verifiable bank check. The car cannot be picked up until the money has been received and verified. The car is located in southeastern Michigan.
I do not end auctions early. By placing a bid or using the Buy It Now option, you agree to all terms of this auction. Considering how the price of E-types have risen, the reserve is very conservative and you can feel confident placing a bid to win.
