1973 Jaguar E-type Series III Roadster
Motorcartrader.com is pleased to offer another great Jaguar E-type. This beautiful Jaguar E-type Series III V12 Roadster was previously owned for over 20 years. The car was originally built on December 22 of 1972 and dispatched on January 19 of 1973. It currently is finished in its original color combination of white with black interior. Furthermore, it is all matching numbers as per the Jaguar Heritage Certificate. This is a wonderful driving car with only 45,436 miles which we understand to be original. We have invested over $9,000.00 into this car in late 2017 and early 2018 to improve this car both mechanically and cosmetically. It needs nothing to be enjoyed as a driver.
More detail of work we had done:
- New steering rack was installed (old one was leaking badly).
- All soft brake lines were replaced.
- All new Michelin 205/70/15 tires installed.
- Valve cover gaskets replaced. Valves adjusted.
- New vacuum hoses.
- Oil changed and new filter. Lubrication service.
- Set timing in engine.
- Synch and tune carburetors New spark plugs and plug wires Breather hat replaced Electrical wiring gone through under hood and cleaned up.
- Front timing cover replaced.
- Replaced all drive belts
- New complete cooling hose kit installed
- Compression Test on all 12 cylinders on 1/22/18. The compression is excellent and ranged between 130 psi to 145psi on all 12 cylinders.
- Great oil pressure as well.
- Fuel service: Fuel tank drained, new fuel pump installed and new fuel lines in trunk.
- New Full stainless steel exhaust kit installed.
- Rear cage taken out. All new rear shocks installed
- All differential mounts replaced Radius arm bushings replaced Differential fluid drained and refilled.
- Speedometer drive resealed Air conditioning converted to R134a. New receiver drier installed. AC blows cold.
- The paint was refreshed throughout, buffed, polished and cleaned.
This Jaguar E-type Series III is a great overall car with no rust and is ready to be driven anywhere. It is very pleasant and easy to drive. It shifts smooth and has good acceleration. The car stops straight and does not fade. The automatics on these cars are so smooth and fun to drive. It is a mistake to underestimate these cars because of an automatic until you drive one properly set up and will be pleasantly surprised. This Jaguar E-type started off its life as a 2+2 and was converted to a roadster earlier on in its life. This is an excellent car and for a great price considering how much work has been recently completed and overall condition. You would be hard pressed to find a better e-type roadster for this price anywhere. We specialize in Jaguar E-types. This is a nice car to enjoy that anyone can drive with ease and it has already been gone through, so the next owner can drive anywhere right now. It does not need anything. The conversion was done by a professional and panels were hand made. More information on the conversion which was completed in 1990 as I had the pleasure if discussing this car with them man who did the conversion:
- Tim who did the conversion used to work for BMC in Maryland.
- His Dad was a fabricator for Morgan and in the 1940s came to America to open a shop that only worked only on British cars.
- This is where he taught Tim how to fabricate the panels.
- This build was done in Roswell, GA and was done in 1990.
- All the replacement panels were all fabricated by hand to exact Jaguar specs.
- Lead was used at the seams just like from the factory with no plastic filler added.
- He estimated over 800 hours between fabrication of the panels, to body fitting and paint was invested on the cars to do the conversion.
- All cars were painted with Sikkens paint from etch primers to clear coat with 4 coats of clear, then we sanded and applied 4 more coats and then wet blocked it down and then buffed.
- He did 24 conversions for a client of his. All cars were on rust free original cars and done in their original factory colors.
- Over half of these cars were shipped to England when they were completed.
- Tim was commissioned to do the work because the client wanted them done right as if they were factory original roadster.
- The goal was to do the cars, so almost everyone who looked at them (outside of the owner and builder) could not tell the difference between this and a factory original roadster.
- Tim is still building Jaguars and has the same passion for Jaguar E-types I have, but has been around them far longer than I have. Needless to say he knows these cars as well as anyone.
