Jaguar has always been a staple in the luxury car market. You were somebody when you owned a Jaguar, because it symbolized status, wealth and class. It wasn't until just recently Jaguars from the 80's started to become collectible. Choosing the right Jag to collect is difficult from this era because if we bought these cars, we drove them often to show them off. This particular 1988 Jaguar XJS offered here today could be a great fit not only to collect but to drive. It is a two owner car with only 22,500 original miles!! When I say two owner, the second owner bought it off the original owner last year to use it as a driver but realized he would get too nervous to drive it around because of its condition and miles. So after about 400 miles decided to sell it. Please read on to learn all about this Jag and its condition. There is a video below so make sure you follow directions and watch the video. Exterior:
The exterior is in excellent condition. It wears all the original paint from what I can see. The first owner, I was told(see video) said there was a small ding on the lower rear passenger door which was removed. I didn't notice and paint work so it may have been a paintless dent removal, but wanted to mention it. The body is straight and there is NO rust underneath, on the floors, frame, or on top of the car. It is very solid and straight. The glass is in excellent condition. The bright work is brilliant showing very minor hazing on the tops of the bumpers. There is one ding pointed out in the video the size of a quarter. The wheels are original and does have some road marks. The tires are original to the car. Please look at the pictures and let us know of any questions you may have.
Interior:
The interior is absolutely gorgeous and in excellent original condition. There is some minor cracking and a chip in the wood trim but the condition is excellent compared to some I have seen over the year which are destroyed. There are no rips or cracks in the seats, door panels and dash. All electrics work. There is a warning light flashing for a bulb or fuse which should be an easy fix. There is some warping in the trim panel below the glove box. The dash gauge cluster is clear as a bell and all works properly. There is some separation in the material of the headliner around sunroof. Otherwise all is in excellent original condition. Please let us know of any questions you may have.
Drive-Train:
The drive train is all original. The 3.6L Straight Six runs quiet and very smooth. No taps, knocks or smoke. The transmission shift excellent. As I stated earlier the tires are original and probably should be replaced if you decided to drive the car daily. I left the original tires on the vehicle because its a testament to the originality of the vehicle. The four wheel disc breaks are road worthy and just may be original to the vehicle. Although the vehicle runs and drives great, I would safety check it first and do a fresh fluid change so it will be 100%. Any questions please let me know.
