Car description |

- 1994 Jaguar XJS 2+2 Convertible for sale to highest bidder!
- Project Car or use for Parts. I will list all that I know about the car below.
- Buyer can easily get more for the Jaguar parts than the Buy It Now price. All metal seems to be in good shape with no major dents. Engine and Transmission work.
- Please read entire listing for my description and ASK QUESTIONS BEFORE BIDDING.
- Pictures:
- Any pictures of the car without the refurbished shiny wheels are from previous seller and only the wheels are different now.
- This car runs and drives but needs some work. I purchased this car last November and the seller did not disclose a lot about the car. I decided to keep the car as project or restoration, however due to health problems I cannot finish the car. I am selling the car as is, where is. Buyer is responsible for pickup at my location. I will be glad to show the car at my location for anyone that is local. I originally paid to have the car hauled from Florida to my location in the Kansas City area for around $800. That should give you an idea of what it would cost you to have the car hauled to your location. You can find a hauler and calculate costs through a link on this page. I have driven the car around locally but would not want to drive it on any kind of a trip. I will list the things I know for sure about the condition but I am sure there is much more you will want to do to restore it.
- Title:
- Car Fax is available for this car and it has a clear Kansas title. The mileage shows 71800 now and will have more by the time it sells. I believe the mileage to be true due to the Car Fax owner history. There are no accidents on the report and I see no evidence of an accident to the car. The previous owner stated it had not been in any kind of accident but no way to prove that. My best guess is that it has never been in any kind of major accident. Just my opinion.
- Mechanical:
- The engine sounds good to me. Runs smooth and starts up easily.
- When I received the car I had a local Jaguar repair shop replace the battery and alternator. I was told the car was in storage for at least a year before I purchased it. I stored it myself from November through May. I believe the gas is old. The car smokes when first started up if it has been sitting for more than a couple of days. After the first mile it quits smoking. My plan was to run the old gas out and then put new gas in. Have not done that yet. The local Jag shop inspection showed the heater core is probably not working as the hose is looped off. Also noted the following: Air cleaner assembly missing. ( Purchased used one and will be in trunk.) Power steering hose leaking. Windshield wipers not working. ( I have removed wiper assembly and have not yet repaired or replaced any parts of it. Will be in trunk.) Rear Shocks leaking, Left Rack and Pinion boot missing. Valve cover gasket leaking oil. Needs new trunk and hood shocks.
- The brakes should be bled as the car does pull to the left sometimes when braking. I removed the wheel assembly to replace a stripped lug bolt. I lost brake fluid when I did this but have not yet bled the brakes. The brake pads look to be about half life or better.
- The air conditioning parts do not make any noise but I have no idea if the compressor is good or not. The air does not blow cold. Assume the worst.
- The wheels are the original alloy wheels that came with the car. I had each wheel machined and polished and the honeycomb center painted silver. That cost me $160 per wheel and I put on 4 new goodyear tires in January. Less than 100 miles on them now.
- Body:
- When I purchased the car the seller listed it as a black car with great paint. I did not know that meant the car was originally a dark red that he had repainted black. The black paint job is not too bad but could have been better. He had removed all of the emblems, antenna, trunk lock and other parts he could get to for the paint job. He never put these back on so you can see emblems and other items are missing in the pictures. I have purchased several of the emblems, a trunk lock and antenna that will be included in the sale. Buyer can assemble. . My plan was to repaint the car the original color but I will not be able to do that now. Existing body and chrome is in decent condition for age. Let pictures help you there.
- The convertible top should be replaced. I got some water inside at the automatic car wash which may be the top window rubber. The top goes up and down manually. I have no idea why it does not work with the button. My guess is fuse or something. The top does go up and down easily and one person can do it.
- Interior:
- The tan seats front and back seem to be in good condition. Maybe even recovered at some point. Wood trim on door panels and back seat panels were peeling so I removed the door and back seat panels to replace the wood trim. Did not refinish the wood trim yet. Door panels and any parts will be in trunk. The speakers are missing. I purchased 4 new speakers that will fit the car. They are included with the car. I think the previous owner may have had a custom sound system and speakers that he took out before selling to me. I get no power to the radio. I have removed it and started to run speaker wire for a new stereo. Original radio and cd deck from trunk will be included. It looks to me as if the black dash top has been replaced. I don't think the original was black. This one is faded.
- Previous owner had removed the dash at some point. The gas gauge does not work so I assume he was trying to fix that. Interior lights don't come on. I suspect a fuse. The information module was missing in the dash but I purchased another used one and it will be in the trunk. It looks like the previous owner had taken apart the ski slope console. Some of the switches need to be secured correctly.
- There is no carpet in the trunk.
- I will include the original trunk cd player. I have no idea if it works or not.
- That is a rundown of what I know about the car. Buyer should assume the car could need anything. This is a perfect project car for someone that has the tools and the time. This could easily be a $10,000 - $20,000 car when restored and prices on these XJS Jaguars are only going to go up.
- As this car is available for local sale I reserve the right to end this auction early.
