Car description |
---|
Offered for sale, from KURT TANNER MOTORCARS, is this 1969 Jaguar Series 2 E-type. This car was recently purchased from it's longterm owner from Northern California near the San Francisco Bay area. This car is probably the most sensibly-priced manual gearbox E-type on the market. The car needs restoration and some metal repairs. The bodyshell of the car appears relatively straight. The bonnet is also very decent with a good nose area. There is some evidence of a previous decent repair to the front of the driver's floor. The RH sill has a rust line along the very bottom edge and would need attention. The trailing arm pickup points/ front of the rear wheelarchs have deteriorated and need repair. The trunk floor underneath has some bubbling. There is some rust-through on the very front RH corner of the passenger floor.
The car is missing a few items notably the rear taillights and mounting plate, some front bonnet chrome, air cleaner can and collector box, radio console, small misc outside trim items, hubcaps, spare tire. Those items are all available used and most likely new as well, in today's parts reproduction market. The engine in the car is currently a period 4.2 Liter unit with a 7F prefix. It turns by hand and may even run well with some work.
The car still retains it's original ID plate, body tag, chassis number stamping on the picture frame.Overall, this car presents a very affordable entry point into the Jaguar E-type market with this desirable manual transmission car. Although needing a restoration, this Jaguar will prove to be a sensible buy and allows plenty of leftover funds for improvements.
