I revived this car for a friend of mine who moved out of state. He bought it in 1990 and it was in great shape having just been restored by a man who brought it to Ohio from Arizona. In 1992 the brakes locked up and it spent the next 23 years in dry storage. He sold the storage property last year and I got the job of disposing or this car and 2 jaguar sedans. I first had to clean the 23 years of dust and dirt off and out of the car. I then spentcountlesshours working the gremlins out of the car to return it to running condition. First off was the starting and ignition circuits. I replaced the stock distributor with a Petronix solid state distributor, hanged the plugs and ignition wires. Made sure the startingsolenoidswere working and got it to turn over. The fuel pump was then refurbished and the carburetors cleaned and rebuilt. I was able to get it running from a can in place of the gas tank. The gas tank was then cleaned and sealed - twice as the first job left some tar which had to be removed. Then it was on the the brakes. All calipers were rebuilt, he soft lines replaced and most of the hard lines. In order to work on the rear brakes the differential was removed and re-furbished, he rear shocks replaced and rotors replaced. The front rotors were fine, new pads all around. after bleeding, he brakes would lock up after use. I replaced the power booster and everything was working again! My friend had bought new enameled exhaust manifolds and a stainless steel exhaust system, ut never installed them. It took off the leaky headers and exhaust and install all the new stuff. This car runs, rives and stops as it should. I also repaired two spots of rust on the outer body. One by the passenger headlight - small hole I welded up. And a little along the bottom of the bonnet by the battery where it looked like it had worn through from contact with the rocker. This was a simple weld as well. I also replaced the front 2' of the floors as these had been trashed by some idiot with a jack not using the jacking point. I replaced the windshield wiper motor with one I adapted from and old truck, ts still two speeds. Original motor included with some misc parts in back. All gauges work. Whomever did the earlier restoration took out the A/C. I corrected the wiring so the radiator fan motors work as they should, ar maintains its temp. My friend had removed the heater box and lost the core and other components. I found a replacement for $350 but have not purchased it. There are some small paint chips, rimarily on the hood. the weatherstripping needs to be replaced. The interior needs work. The back seat has its original leather but needs replacement. The fronts were covered in vinyl and the drivers seat has a hole and needs a new pad. This is a good solid car that you could spend a little on and get a lot of fun out of it or spend a lot to trailer it around. I've set a reserve based on what I will take and what the car is worth compared the similar cars I've watched for the past year. If it does not meet reserve, 'll repaint it and get the interior done and double the reserve price before relisting. Feel free to ask any questions. $1000 due at end of auction, he rest paid within 3 business days unless other arrangements are agreed upon.
