Car description

1961 Jaguar Mark IXThis cat purrs and is ready for a new home. This project was obtained by the former owner about ten years ago. At that time it was a solid, omplete, nrestored car. He promptly dismantled it, ad it painted, nd then let it sit. For a spell it was left outside and that's when the dash delaminated and the doors rusted. It is running and there are videos below showing that. I have a clear Pennsylvania title in my name.Engine: Compression test shows that all six cylinders quickly pump up 130 - 145 psi. When started for the first time, t fired up without hesitation like it was just running yesterday. One of the carbs is prone to overflowing, o there will be things to address, ut it sounds like a strong engine and likely has on it only the 61,000 miles shown on the odometer. Below is a video of it firing up and running and a second one of me revving it up (takes a little more coordination to do that). It is running on an auxiliary fuel tank. Make no mistake, ou aren't going to hop in it and drive it to California, ut it does seem to have a solid powerplant. Below are clickable links in the event the embedded video doesn't work:Click here for engine starting and running.Click here for a short play of engine revving.

Driveline: The brakes are inoperable, ut complete. I didn't drive it on account of this. On the lift I did put it into drive and the rear wheels started spinning, o presumably the transmission does work on some level.

Tires: The four new wide whitewall Diamond Back radial tires (Goodyear) mounted on repainted original wheels are one of the best things about the car. They are unused, o dry rot, tc. That's about $1,000 bucks worth of new tires right there.

Interior: Again, t's what you'd expect consistent with the outward appearance of the car. The seats and door panels are there, ut pretty much only good for patterns. Since the car has been completely dismantled years ago, lot of the nuts and bolts are missing, hough the major hardware is still there. It will need a dash since it delaminated when it was left outside with the windshield removed. The gauges are there and look salvageable. Some of the interior wood may be salvageable, s well. The seats were stored inside all the time they were removed.

Body: As stated above, t's about a ten year old repaint that spent some time outside. The lower doors took the worst part of that as you can see in the photos. The body itself is pretty solid. No inner rocker or body mount rot. There is a small patch on both the drivers side and passengers side front floor boards, little bit of rot where you'd expect in places like the spare tire well, ut other than that it's rather solid overall. There doesn't appear to have ever been any collision damage.

Chrome: It's what you'd expect on an unrestored car. Some of it is presentable for a driver, ut most of it really ought to be replated or replaced. Some of it is missing (the hood ornament was stolen at one point) and much of it isn't bolted on the car. Study the photos. There are shots of pretty much everything that goes with the car.

Glass: The windshield it out of the car and is in decent condition. The rear glass is still in place and is also in decent condition. The side glass is missing (except the vent windows, have those), ut the side glass frames are there.

Summary: It's a bit of a grab bag. Either look at it as a parts car with a solid running engine, r put this one back together with the parts car you already have. Either way, t's going to take two cars to make one good one.

Payment: A non-refundable $500 deposit made by PayPal is due within 48 hours of the end of the auction. From there you can either use a cashiers or personal check (checks will be required to clear before the title is signed over) or cash at time of pick-up.
