Hello, up for sale is my 1963 International Harvester Scout 80/800. Three words describe this Scout best,Tasteful,VersatileandDifferent.
This Scout is titled and vin tagged as a 1963 but if you’re familiar with Scouts you’ll see several areas of this Truck have been changed. The front clip/grill cap is from a 1970 Scout 800a the doors also are from a 1970 Scout 800a. Both the front and rear axels are from later model scouts, Dana 27 front and Dana 44 rear. A T-90 3speed and dana-18 twin stick T-case. The factory full cab Travel Top has been modified/fabricated into a half-cab Terra top, to include fabricating the lift hatch into the top. Making for a really cool look but also functional. You won’t find very many (if any) others like this out there. This Scout is a California truck, the previous owner was a member of a Southern California Scout Club and drove this old girl everywhere.
*2.5” spring lift
* 33/12.5/15 Bridgestone A/T tires
* Wood bed
* New clutch
* Wiring harness less than 5-years old, with new fuse cluster
* New, custom interior
* New paint
* New bumpers front and back
* Modified/fabricated half-cab
* LED Halo headlights
* 16 gallon fuel cell tucked under the bed
* Weber carburetor
The bed has been finished in wood stained and sealed, the scout is nicely lifted with a spring lift of approximately 2.5”. The Scout is sporting 33/12.5/15” tires (Bridgestone A/T) with approx 80% of the tread remaining. The wheels are 15x10 deep offset 4x4 black steel wheels. I’ve elected to add IH Scout hubcaps to the wheels because I like the look. The black steel wheels are there underneath and look good either with the caps or without. Mechanically the Scout is in very good shape. I’ve replaced the clutch, front axle gearing (4.27) front and rear. The wiring harness is only a few years old (replaced by previous owner), to include fuse cluster. The fuel cell is mounted and secured under the bed, coupled with the Weber carburetor you get plenty of range (approx 16mpg). This Scout runs and drives very good, doing 60-65 highway speeds with no problem. The 196, 4-cylinder motor is nice and healthy, no smoking. Fresh paint done in a two stage base coat, clear coat. The color is one that I’ve used 3-4 times on other Scouts “Shadow Grey” for the body with a dark grey textured top. The interior is all new, dash is wrapped in vinyl, the carpet flooring is hand made, along with all the stitch-work on the seats and door panels. We’ve added some storage to the rear and sides of the seat, and covered them in tooled/stained Leather which reads “Scout”, locks can be added to those storage bins for security. We added a little something extra to finish off the Scout’s interior, the headliner which is finished out and covered in Brazilian Cow Hide. The truck starts easily every time. As you look through the pics you’ll hopefully see all the small, tasteful things that have been done to this Scout. I’ve owned over 45 Scouts, I like things that are different not run of the mill. We’ve mixed a small amount of Custom into this Scout but I think we’ve maintained the classic look. You’ll have people asking you about this truck everywhere you go.I’ve sold several of these 80/800 body styles Scouts which are my favorite models. Scouts in general are not commonly seen vehicles but these smaller 80/800 models are much more rare. It’s estimated that approximately 300,000 of the larger Scout II’s were produced from 1972-1980 but these smaller Scouts were much more limited in production and are more collectible. You need to know that the half-cab hard-top is fully removable (approx 10-11 bolts holding it on). With easy removal of the hard-topyou can add a full soft-top to this truck for added versatility with no problem giving the truck a completely different look. In the Photo section of this listing I’ve added a pic of another Scout 800 that I did awhile back in the same color scheme which is sporting a full soft-top to give viewers an idea of how this Scout would look with a full soft-top. I don’t currently have a soft-top for the truck listed in this auction but if a buyer wants to add a soft-top let me know we can work that into the deal. There are no noticeable leaks, very sound truck. Free and clear California title in hand ready to go. Please feel free to call
me or send messages I’d love to discuss this truck. Also, take a look at my Pinterest board and YouTube link “Scoutdadih” or Scoutdadih@gmail for videos of this Scout and videos/pics of the over 45 Scouts I’ve done. These Scout 80/800’s are becoming harder to find and the prices continue to climb. I’m a very reasonable seller, if you have interest in this beauty give me a call to work out a deal. I take pride in providing good, clean Scouts at reasonable prices. We keep things simple around here but you’ll see from videos and pics that our Scouts are beautifully done. No need to take out a 2nd on the house or sell a kidney to obtain one of these from me! I also have several Scout and light line parts for sale so please look at my other eBay listings. Message me if there is something specific you’re looking for- I have many heavier parts that aren’t listed- bumpers, intake manifolds, etc.
