1979 I H Scout II No Reserve! Texas Truck!
I bought this Scout from the Estate of the previous owner in Texas. The owner who passed away did not leave the title or keys where they could be found. So the Scout comes with no keys and a bill of sale only. The engine does turn using a socket and ratchet. I was told the Scout was running when put in storage. He was working on the body of the Scout, and it is in grey primer over red oxide primer. The truck will need the left rocker panel replaced, and the cowl area repaired as it has two fiber-glass patches in the cowl. The rear left wheel well lip has some rust. I have provided photos of these areas. There a few other little rust spots here and there but nothing significant. The truck is in pretty good shape with no rust problems in the frame or floor panels that I could see.
The interior has replacement bucket seats which look pretty good, original back seat, and original door panels. Right side window will not roll down. Carpet is old and needs to be replaced, looks like rust in the photo of the driver floor pan, but it is just the carpet. Door panels will need to be repaired as fabric is old and coming apart. Door jambs are rust free.
I have ordered the new key and cylinder lock for the truck, but it is back ordered at Scout Parts. If the ignition lock and key set does show up, and I still have the truck, I will try to get it started. I was told it was running when put in storage by previous owner.
That's about all I know about the truck, but it is pretty solid and complete, and would make a good project for someone who wants a Scout but doesn't want to spend too much. I tried to show the worst spots on the truck in the photos.
Truck specs:
345 V-8727 auto transDana 44 front and rearA/CP/SP/D/BBucket seats and consoleRemoveable hard-top
I can assist your shipper with collection of the vehicle. I have used U-Ship.com before with no problems. Title can be had through a title service, I have done this before and it is not difficult. Feel free to contact me if you have any question about the Scout. Truck is now located in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
