Up for no reserve auction is this super cool all original 1937 IH C-30 Firetruck. This Truck has only 3288 miles since bought new in 1937!! If it looks a little dingy it is because I have not washed it, only because a lot of people are into that sort of thing these days. It runs, drives, and stops good. It does smoke, probably because of it's average of 41 miles put on it a year since new. It also needs a muffler and tailpipe. I put a couple miles on it today. It has it's original paint and interior. It also has what appears to be the original braided spark plug wires!! I am not sure if the tires are original or not. They are "Pennsylvania Turnpike" brand tires and are all holding air! The truck has been kept inside it's whole life and has stood the test of time! There are many ornate brass fixtures to it, all in very good shape. The siren runs most of the time, but sometimes you need to spin it over to get it to start. One headlight and the dash lights comes on but the rest of the lights do not. There is what looks to be about a 50 gal water tank on it. I don't know if the pump works, mainly because I don't know how to run it, and the hose that is reeled up is dry rotted. There is a wooden extension ladder and one wooden regular ladder. Everything on the truck is the way I bought it, nothing has been added except a lower radiator hose and fresh anti-freeze. THE TRUCK COMES WITH A CLEAR TITLE IN MY NAME!!
THE HISTORY:
This truck was bought new in 1937 by the Mason City, NE fire department. Mason City currently has a population of 171 people, so it spent most of it's life sitting in the firehall. A bigger firetruck was bought in the 50's and the International was used as a backup until it was decommissioned in 1997. At that time Mason City Fire Chief Charles Zimmer purchased it and kept it in his car collection until his passing earlier this year. I went to Mr. Zimmer's estate sale on July 30th looking to buy his original 34 Ford 5 window coupe and came home his firetruck instead! This truck also comes with Mr. Zimmers last fire suit. This is a true piece of American History that any collector would be proud to own.
