Car description

This vehicle has had a full frame off restoration. It had been in a rollover accident over 20 years ago, and it sat in a hedge row until this spring. All rust has been removed and new 18ga steel has replaced nearly all the lower sections of the body. All fenders and body pan have been painted inside and out. The bed floor has been replaced with diamond plate. The 4 cylinder 152cc Engine has been rebuilt and runs well. It has a new electrical system and all lights and gauges work. Most everything has been replaced or reworked so it is easier to list the things that have not been renewed and still need attention...

1-It still has the original rear end and 3 speed transmission. Not saying this is bad, but while the gear oil has been changed and it shifts and drives well, it’s just not been gone through.

2-Still has the original radiator and there is a leak under one of the mounts. Stop leak has been added but as it is at the top of the radiator it hasn't stopped the leak yet.

3-The seats are out of a 1998 Ford Ranger and the driver’s side is a little rough with a 4 inch tear right down the middle.

4-There is only a windshield wiper on the driver’s side

5-Roll up windows have been removed and replaced with sliding Plexiglas panels as some of the older Scouts had.

6-Speedometer and fuel gauge are not accurate. They climb and fall rather amusingly. (so the mileage listed is likely not accurate)

7-The electrical connector that plugs into the (new) alternator isn’t the best. It stays in place on its own, but if you put any tension on it while working in the engine compartment it’s not too difficult to tug it out of it’s socket.

8-The entire brake system is new. Even still this thing doesn’t stop on a dime, or a quarter, or a silver dollar… There are no adjustments on these older models of drum brakes and you just really have to be aware of the distance that this thing takes when approaching an intersection. There are kits to convert to disk brakes available, but I haven’t sprung for that

Overall, this is an already wonderful vehicle that only needs a little bit of work to be a true gem.
