Car description

For sale is my 1966 International Scout 800. This Scout has been brought back to life with a recent restoration/modification(s).

MOTOR/TRANSMISSION/EXHAUST:

It is powered by the 196, slant 4 cyl motor which had been rebuilt prior to my taking ownership of the vehicle and the odometer shows 11,XXX miles since rebuild. It starts right up every time, runs like a top, idles nicely, and has good compression with no smoking or burning of oil.

The 4-speed transmission works great with fully functional 4x4 transfer case and manual locking front hubs. The Scout runs and drives great. The 196/4-speed is a great combo and it cruises nicely at 60 MPH.

The engine bay features new: plugs, wires, rotor, cap, Red Top battery, coil, belt, fuel pump, radiator (not original, but better), and sound-deadening, under-hood matting.

The old exhaust was removed and a new exhaust system was installed with a straight pipe and a 12” glass pack. It breathes great, sounds awesome at higher RPMs and idles with a nice purr.

EXTERIOR:

Being from Idaho, the vehicle had minimal frame/chassis surface rust that was easily removed and treated. All the body panels are original, except for the new rockers that were installed. All exterior and interior paint was brought to metal before being repainted by using a PPG two-stage, base/clear coat painting process. The interior/floors of the Scout have been redone in the same color as the body with color-matched Lizard Skin (bed liner) applied to the floors. The truck has all new emblems, mirrors, wiper arms/wipers, tail lights, headlights turn signals, windshield, and bumpers. It also has a recently-painted, white ½ cab top that will only be put on when the vehicle is sold. I also have a factory spare tire carrier that will be included but has not been installed.

SUSPENSION/LIFT/BRAKES:

This awesome stance was created by installing: 4” Jeep CJ5 lift springs (netted about 2.5 due to Scout additional weight) and 1" body lift. It features 4" HD shackles in front and 5" HD shackles in the rear and Bilstein 5100 series shocks all the way around, including steering stabilizer. I purchased four solid Scout II wheels, had them blasted and powder-coated in black (20% gloss) to match the bumpers. They are wrapped in brand new 33x10.5x15 BFG KO2s. Brakes were redone on all four corners and (extended) steel braided brake lines were installed.

INTERIOR:

One of the things that drew me to this vehicle originally was the condition of the interior. The seats are in excellent shape and have clearly been redone. Floors are in great shape and should last another 50+ years. The gauges had been replaced at this time the engine rebuild was done. The taller/narrower tires make the steering fairly easy. It does not have power steering.

FUEL SYSTEM:

The vehicle has new gas tank, lines, sending units, fuel filters, fuel pump, and the Holley 1904 carb has been rebuilt.

CONCLUSION:

This vehicle has many, many hours into a detailed restoration. I did extensive research and created a vehicle that I feel is top notch. I get compliments every time I take it out. Simply put, people love the Scout. It recently won “best of show” at a local car show in Michigan over approximately 150 other classics. You will not be disappointed with the vehicle.

The truck will come with a bin full of extra parts, etc. that were either going to be used or were replaced. I did not install a stereo in the truck. I felt that it was better to let the new owner install what they would like, as there are many options for modern/classic stereo systems.

Hopefully the photos show viewers just how nice it is. Please feel free to call or send messages for details. Shipping contacts may be provided, if needed. Please note, that I reserve the right to end the auction early if a qualified offer is received. Give me a call if you'd like to work out a deal. If you have been looking for a good clean 800, this is it and I doubt it will last long. I also have all receipts from my build as well as the line ticket from IH.

Thank you for looking and happy bidding!
