This is an original 1964 IH (International Harvester) Metro Step Van. It was purchased new in 1964 and used as a service vehicle for a heating and air conditioning (HVAC) company (See the photos) in Elgin IL, bout 40 miles west of Chicago. I purchased it from a gentleman that had extensive work done to it so he could carry his Moto Guzzi on tours with a motorcycle club. he would unload the cycle then use it as a camper when they reached their destinations, sually in the Western US. The plywood sheet shown in the pictures would be laid across the rear wheel well to make a bed. It has a new complete exhaust system, e-arched springs with new shackles, ilstein shocks, completely rebuilt brake system (with new master cylinder, lutch slave cylinder and wheel cylinders, nd new clutch/brake lines), t also has new tires. The rear gear ratio was lowered to 3.91 - 1 ratio and will cruise at 60 MPH all day long. It is a pleasure to drive and draws a LOT of attention. Everything works; gauges, eater, efroster, ights and turn signals. The standard shift mechanism on the steering column is sloppy from use but works fine. The ignition switch should be replaced as its also worn. All of the glass is clear, t has a trailer hitch (2" receiver), nd the seat has been reupholstered with a seat belt added. It is approximately 15' - 6" long, ' - 7" wide, nd about 8' high. It has a 220 C.I. six cylinder engine with 112 gross horsepower, nd a 108" wheelbase. I had always envisioned lowering it, utting in a stronger engine with an overdrive trans. I saw several vans like this in pictures from California and they look awesome..................
