Car description

I have decided to put up for sale my 1979 Civic 1200. I love this car and had a lot of fun building it, ut it is time to move on. I will regret this sale, ut I drive it very little and would like to see it completed, riven, nd loved the way it should be. Not stored parked in a barn collecting dust. I bought this car on April 23, 012 from a man in Virginia, ho to the best of my knowledge was the second owner. It was showing 49,108 miles when purchased and I believe this to be actual miles. It had been parked for some time and needed love. The owner's manual with info on when the car was sold new on April 30, 979 came with the car. Here is what I have done and added to the car while I have had it. It came with some front end damage from falling off a tow bar. It had a replacement passenger fender and some damage underneath on the front roll pan. I was unable to source a replacement roll pan so I beat out what I could and fabricated a front spoiler from another car to cover the damage. Not a concourse fix but looks acceptable in my book. The car had very little rust! A few surface areas but nothing structural at all I sanded it all off, epaired a few dings here and there and learned my hand at body work along the way. I painted the car back to it's factory blue on April 6, 013 using a base coat - clear coat paint. The interior was completely removed, verything scrubbed, nd reassembly began with new passenger compartment carpet, hampooed rear carpet, new spare tire board and repair and replacement of broken or missing bits and pieces. I upgraded the dash to the CVCC gauges utilizing their center gage set-up and adding the tachometer. All gauges were disassembled, leaned, nd new glass was cut for the gauge faces to replace the clouded and scratched plastic faces. Chrome trim rings were special ordered to accent the new gauges. New odometer read 71,827 when installed. Currently showing 72,822. Yes, 've only driven it 1,000 miles. I looked long and hard to source the matching dash clock that was only available in Japan. It is now installed completing the beautiful gauge setup. This was probably one of the rarest Honda parts I have had to ever locate and was not cheap! I also sourced a full set of original rubber floor mats the only full set of these I have ever seen. I added the CVCC center shift console, ewed a new leather shift boot by hand, nd upgraded from the plain shift lever to the CVCC chrome one. I restored the chrome strips on the arm rests and repainted the dash ash tray and gauge pod. Retrofitted new door seals from a vintage accord. Now you have to slam the doors pretty hard to close them. Engine bay received a full detail and a new motor mount. New plugs, ires, ilters, uel pump, nd a cleaning of the distributor contacts. Headlights were disassembled and buckets were cleaned and painted.Exterior received ultra rare front and rear bumper overriders. An almost unheard of accessory on these cars! NOS taillights, OS antenna, OS H O N D A lettering on the trunk lid, ar of the year Honda Badge, eplacement OK Honda window sticker and new chrome around the drip rails. Car comes with what was a NOS (when mounted) set of ENKEI 4x120 13" gold mesh wheels. A real treasure. It also comes with factory 12" steel wheels which have been resprayed and Center caps repainted.Brakes have been completely redone within the last 100 miles. New master cylinder, ake booster, ront calipers & pads, new rear wheel cylinders & rear brake shoes. Now the bad. Nothing terrible, ut if you want a perfect car It's going to need a little more love, ut you're well on your way. There are a few things that still need work. PAINT: Like I said, learned body work on this car. I painted it in my buddy's garage. It looks good, ut It's not professional. There are some areas that could have been sanded better, here is a little overspray in a couple of spots, nd hood has some stripes if the sun hits it just right. A little rust popping up on the right quarter panel and on the front edge of the hood and corner of trunk. Nothing to be afraid of, ut must have been some moisture in the paint. Could easily be fixed. There is a small scrape under gas door where I backed it into a lawn chair. Should buff out. Windshield seal is dry but does not leak. INTERIOR: The front seats need repair. I was going to have this done, ust never got around to it. Driver's side has a bolster tear and there is a little dry rot on the top right corner of the passenger seat. Back seat however looks as if it was never sat in. It is beautiful. Chrome shift lever rattles going down the road. It came from a 5-speed car this is a 4-speed and there is a spacer or spring or something missing there that causes a rattle. Original lever is included if you want to put it back. ENGINE & ELECTRICAL: Car starts up and runs great. Alternator belt squeaks at start up but stops almost immediately. Car likes to die at idol until warm. A carburetor rebuild would not be a bad idea down the road. Muffler leaks a little. Right headlight does not work. There is a wiring gremlin here I cannot trace down, have tried and tried to fix this, ut i'm no electronics guy. This really is a treasure. I spent a lot of time and money seeking all these rare parts and loving on this car. I want someone to love and treasure this car for it's historical value and continue to build and love it as much as I have. Car comes with a factory service manual, riginal key, riginal spare, ack and a clean NC title. I have tried to describe this to the best of my ability. However, t is sold as/is.I encourage you to come look at it before bidding if you can. Local pickup preferred, therwise, uyer pays all shipping costs. Immediate deposit of $500 required at close of auction. Balance due upon pickup or prior to delivery.Item also for sale locally, reserve the right to end auction early.
