Car description |

Up for sale is a beautiful and very clean 1990 Honda Civic CRX SI that has not been molested in any way. Stock everything except for the rear control arms and aftermarket rims. I have owned this car for three years and bought it with the plan of doing a complete restoration as it wouldn't take much, but a move across country is forcing me to sell as I already have two more cars to get rid of. I looked at several CRX's when I was buying and this was by far the cleanest one. The previous owner had it garaged every day and it never saw snow. I flew from Boston to Pennsylvania and drove her home...
Interior is near mint as you can see in the pics with the only issue being the driver seat that has the usual tearing on the outer edge, but it was patched and still has plenty of life left. Exterior is very very clean tho has some minor chips in the paint, nothing more than an 1/8" in size except for an inch long chip on the edge of the rear hatch - see photos - also has a few very small shallow dings - no dents or rot anywhere on this car, in or out. It was never in any kind of accident and the trim is all in great shape. It truly is a survivor and I hope whoever wins this auction decides to go through it and make a show winner out of her as she is worth it. I get thumbs up and compliments constantly driving around...
Four wheel disc brakes work flawlessly. Sunroof works great although it is showing a bit of spotting rust along the front edge under the seal as is common with these cars. New panels are still available from eBay and I had planned on replacing all of the sunroof seals and panel before I decided to sell but I don't have the time so it's up you what you'd like to do.
Engine starts every time and runs very well. Minor intermittent tick that shows up maybe once a week, barely audible - from what I gather is a stuck lifter but mechanic says it's nothing out of the ordinary considering the age of the car. I'm going to SeaFoam the engine this week and it should free up the lifter as I've owned many 90's Honda's and this always seems to do the trick. Either way it does not effect how the car runs, just perks up the perfectionist in me every once in awhile. A/C worked fine when I bought the car, but needs to be retrofitted and charged so does not function at this time. Engine still gets 35+ miles to the gallon and runs very strong, passing highway traffic easily with no smoke from the tailpipe.
I've fixed the dreaded heater control crack problem and it is now better than it was new. Rather than use hot glue as most do I used metal impregnated epoxy, added stand-offs and installed a new front plate.
Car drives excellent and while it has high miles they are mostly highway and I wouldn't hesitate to drive this little car anywhere, seriously. Car comfortably cruises at 70-80mph no problem, very minor steering wheel vibration above 80mph - parking in the city is a breeze. It does burn a bit of oil as expected of a car of this age, a quart every two weeks of steady driving. Other than that there is nothing I can think of as far as problems to report. Will have it tuned up before buyer comes to claim it.
In the last 18 months I've replaced both the rear hatch cylinders with OEM, new ball joints on both sides and a new drivers side CV joint. Also replaced the main relay and igniter which commonly go out on these cars so I decided to be pro-active and replace both. Also replaced the windshield and hood as the latch froze up maybe 8 months ago when I checked the oil while getting gas - hood popped open on the drive home cracking the windshield and denting the original hood. Latch was fixed along with a new hood being installed -hood is black primer. Was planning on painting the car along with another that I just finished restoring, but ran out of time.
Stereo is a JVC head unit with CD and Bluetooth with a JBL Pro Touring amp and 10" sub. Has a microphone installed for hands-free talking over Bluetooth, just choose the stereo when an incoming calls pops up. The stereo is killer, especially in such a compact interior...
Priced to sell as I am leaving Boston at the end of October and would really like to see this car go to someone who appreciates the mighty CRX and is willing to take good care of and enjoy this beautiful little ride. Feel free to email me with any questions...
