Car description

The Honda 600 was the first "mass market" car sold by Honda in the US. The Z600 COUPE was introduced in 1971. According to one source, a total of 40,586 sedan and coupes were sold in the US from 1970-1972. Estimates are that there are fewer than 1000 left, probably more like 300 or so that are in operating condition today.

The original micro car! Just over 10' long, weighing about 1300 pounds. the "big bore" (for American markets) 600cc twin cylinder, air cooled, motorcycle engine - yep, that's how they came! 4 speed. with reverse, surprisingly spacious inside (our neighbor used to haul 5 adults/teens in his), hatch back.

I've owned this since March of 2015 and we have done lots of work on it and taken it to a few local shows -just for fun! It's always an eye catcher, even though it's a driver, not show quality. This car is 45 years old! Even folks at DMVwere taking photos of it!.

This 1972 has had the top end of the engine rebuilt since I had it. It was done by a retired Honda mechanic who was an expert on these. It has new first oversize pistons, rings, gaskets, cam chain and seals. totally new exhaust system, fuel pump and filters, hoses, plug caps, The brake master cylinder, brake booster and carburetor have been completely rebuilt as well. This little beauty has all new tires, new front seat upholstery, new carpets, a custom license plate frame, ORIGINAL owner's and shop manuals, a spare tire and jack, and also comes with a lot of fun factoids, road tests and more.

This car has a CLEAR California title and current registration (No Smog required in California!), starts, idles and runs great. Transmission shifts fine, clutch works well, all electrics work well. Paint is not original, but we believe it IS the original color. Body is solid, with the expected dings from age, shopping carts, etc. The only negatives that we have learned of over the years are: windshield has some chips and scratches, wiper motor (blades are new) is VERY slow, steering is a little "vague" but manageable (rebuilt steering boxes are readily available on eBay) and there is no radio (the engine makes the music, LOL).

Other than that, you can be the hit of the neighborhood with this rare gem. Plan on taking longer to get to your destination, though. Everyone wants to talk to you or get a photo! It really IS a hoot! Here's your chance to own a rare piece of automotive history! Scaling down and moving is forcing sale for us - we won't have a place to store it inside like we have done the last 4 years since we've had it, so it must go.
