Car description |
---|
I bought this truck about a year ago in northeastern Pennsylvania. I drove my car up to pick it up loaded my car on the flat bed and drove it back home about 750 miles. I had no trouble with it whatsoever. The synchronizers are apparently bad because it grinds when you shift gears. If you shift slowly it does a pretty good job. The transmission works great as does the 2 speed axle. Engines runs great. I will list everything that I am aware of that doesn't work or doesn't work well. If memory serves me correctly the emergency brake does not work. I have not checked it to see if the cable needs adjusted or replaced or what the problem is with it. The passenger hydraulics leak when letting the bed down. Not when raising or in the upright position. The top lights do not work. The headlights brake lights turn signals parking lights and most if not all of the cab markers worked when I checked them. The top lights that are supposed to rotate do not work. The truck had small 22.5 tires on it when I bought it and they were in terrible condition. I bought two new 11R 22.5 tires for the front and four good used tires for the back. 11R 22.5 as well. I drove the truck back home which is about ten miles after having the tires replacedand haven't driven it since. These tires are considerably taller and larger in diameter and hopefully will increase the gas mileage which wasn't great on the trip home. Mountains made for slow going about 55 mph max. The truck rides rough when you hit a bump you know it. Maybe the tires have helped this out too I do not know. I can't think of any other problems or shortcomings with the truck. The odometer shows 79124 miles I have no idea about the original mileage. The carpet has been removed. The body has a few small dents and a couple of small rusty spots. I believe the fenders have been replaced with Chevy fenders. The brakes work great. One of the best things about the truck. It runs well drives well with the exception of a rough ride and slower highway speeds. I tuned up the engine replaced the starter changed oil and filter all Amsoil 100% synthetic oil. The truck has front and rear outer alloy wheels with most of the decorative nuts. I also replaced the top radiator hose and passenger side valve cover gasket. As far as I know the engine does not smoke or use excessive oil. I did not have to add any oil on the trip from Pennsylvania. It was down about a half pint to a pint when I arrived home. I believe the gas tank has about forty gallons of gas in it. The engine is a large block 360 something I believe but I will not swear to it. I know when I bought the valve cover gaskets I got them for a 454 I believe. The auto parts store did not have a listing for the 79 rollback. The truck has been sitting for about 9 to 10 months. I start it occasionally. It is an old truck and I am selling it as is. If you are in the area message me if you like you are welcome to come check it out before bidding. There is a $250.00 non refundable within 48 hours of auctions end. The rest can be paid in cash when you pick it up.
I started and drove the truck yesterday added about 15 miles to the odometer. The truck rides considerably smoother and does drive comfortablyat a higher speed. I drove it at about 65 mph and it cruised right along. Engine sounds great. The driver sidehydraulic lift leaks when in use. I was apparently mistaken about which side leaked. Both probably need new O-rings seals etc. Should be a pretty easy fix they are easily accessible when the bed is raised.
