You are looking at an absolutely beautifully restored 1949 GMC/American Fire Truck. This truck was originally in service with the Chagrin Falls, OhioSuburban Volunteer Fireman's Association. Manufactured by the American Fire Apparatus Company in Battle Creek, Michigan. Serial number 984-49. Measures 25ft long x 7' 2" tall at the windshield x 7' 6" across the back. Wheelbase is 179".
14,600 original miles! a 426 cu in 6 cylinder gas engine with a Zenith carburetor. Newre-cored radiator, fan, valves, antifreeze overflow canister and alternator. Heads have been shaved and new gaskets installed. Regular yearly service done.
Transmission is a 5 speed with High/Low making for an effective 10 speed.
Rebuilt Hydrovac, gas tank relined, two new 6 volt batteries. 500 GPMtwo stage Hale pump with vacuum shift on dash and Pressure/Capacity shift on the pump panel, 500 gallon tank.
Tire size is 10.00 x 20. 4 of the 6 tires are close to new. New wood in the hose bed.
ALL the chrome has been re-plated!
Equipment included with the truck: Dual power rewind booster hose reels, 2 fly 24' aluminum ladder, 14' aluminum roof ladder, pair of hard suction hose, bell, siren, battering ram, chrome pry bar,2 brass Indian water tanks, 2 carpenter hand lights, 2 pick head axes, pike pole, strainer and a few misc brass fittings.
