Car description

Do you like the classic good looks of third generation GMC pickups? Do you prefer a truck without a pile of computers and electronic Nannies keeping tabs on you? Then check out this sweet looking, all stock, well maintained, GMC Sierra Classic 1000.
When you design and build a good vehicle, you stick with it. GMC updated their pickups in 1973 and stayed with the basic design for 15 years. They did however, give this 1983 model a facelift to improve the aerodynamics and gas mileage after the fuel crisis of 1980. Rounding out the fenders, the edges of the windshield, and wrapping the doors up into the roof had the benefits of not only improving the gas mileage, but the looks too. This one has had the original, red and white, two tone paint job resprayed to freshen it up, and it looks great! The bumpers front and rear shine like new, and the splashes of chrome down the sides along with the door handles and mirrors look sharp. With the addition of 22 inch, US Mags wheels, and low-profile tires, it really makes a statement. Of course, a pickup truck needs a sliding glass window into the bed, so this truck has one of those too.
Its so nice when you step into this truck and see that its just simple and functional. The two-tone red and maroon interior looks great. They tilted the dash a little bit toward the driver on each side so that you can see it better, making the gauges easier to read, and the controls easy to reach. But they made sure they didn't leave out the functional luxury items. There are power windows and locks, along with a tilt steering wheel for your comfort and convenience. The bench seat, in combination with an automatic transmission with the shifter on the column, means that you can travel with two companions comfortably. Or, maybe you would prefer just one companion who can slide over close for the ride.
The changes they made to the drivetrain in the third gen trucks started right at the heart of being a truck. They redesigned the ladder frame and started using higher strength steel to build it with. While the frame shop was at work, the suspension shop went to work on improvements both front and rear. The independent front suspension was redesigned to improve the handling and provide a nicer ride with changes to the coil springs, shocks and sway bars. The rear was redesigned too, with a live axle and variable rate leaf springs and offset shocks, so it could handle the heavy loads, but also, ride nice under light loads. The engine is the tried and true, 5-liter (305 cubic inch) V-8 motor that runs great. Power is sent back through the equally reliable, 4 speed, Turbo Hydra-matic transmission. Take this proven drivetrain, and add some style by setting it on 295/30ZR22 tires in the back, and 265/35ZR22s in the front, for the perfect combination of reliability and a unique look.
Come on down and check out this truck. It's a real truck, without a bunch of computers and electronic Nannies keeping tabs on you, offered at a fraction of the cost of new ones.
