1948 GMC AC720Cab and Chassis
5 ton AC series GMC cab and chassis
Original 426 6 cylinder
Five speed overdrive transmission
This truck originally came from Central California where a small brush fire swept through the area where it was parked. This resulted in damage to the rear axle/suspension and back half of the cab. The rear springs were warped from the extreme heat and the tires were burned off. The fire reached the back of the cab and burnt the seat and interior including the dash and doors.
Included with the auction is a huge parts pile collected from other AC series trucks. Everything needed to return the truck to original. Included is a complete rear suspension cutoff (with tires and wheels), seat, dash, windshields, steering wheel and column among many more parts such as a hood, fenders, grill surround and running boards.
The fire did not reach the engine compartment and the engine was not burned. The fire did not burn anything in front of the dash.
The steel sheet metal of this truck is very solid. There is no rust in this truck. Despite being a bit charred, the body is in great shape. This can be attributed to the quality steel used in production during this era.
This truck would be an excellent factory restoration project or a great candidate for a custom build. There are many different ways that this project could go and still result in an outstanding truck that will turn heads either way.
