Car description |
---|
I'm the second owner (since August, 1988) and have original receipt. Mileage is correct. Engine and transmission run without issues. Manual transmission works in 4H and 4L, as well as two-wheel drive mode. No air conditioning -- never installed. Always starts (after I charge the battery) and has never stranded me. I still drive the truck five or six times a year to pick up drywall, etc.
Original paint and interior, and it shows. Front fenders/cab/hood/bumper are all straight. Rear corners and sides have dents common to work trucks. Truck has never had any serious engine work (except clutch replacement) or body work. Gauges all work. No warning lights on. It has never been in a collision with another vehicle.
There is rust in the corners, but frame appears very solid. Windshield is cracked. Brake power booster has failed, so I don't recommend driving this long distances. One of the sliding back windows has broken. Tailgate is solid and reasonably straight, but hinges on truck have rusted out.
I recommend any interested party to see the truck first-hand and kick the tires for yourself. The truck is located about 15 miles south of Annapolis, Maryland.
On Mar-03-17 at 14:26:00 PST, seller added the following information:
NOTE -- NOTE --NOTE -- In preparing for the sale, I dug up the original Maryland temporary registration and receipt (dated August 25, 1988) AND the original Maryland title. Unfortunately, there appears to be an error on the title. The original registration and receipt states clearly an odometer reading of 11316 miles, which is what I remember and what is reasonable for a one year old truck. The title, however, lists an odometer reading of 113166 miles, which I believe to be a mistake. This is not what I recall (and you would remember buying a one-year old truck with over 100,000 miles on the clock). It would also have required the driver to be on the highway an average of 4 to 6 hours a day to run up this kind of mileage (speed limits were still 55 mph then). And, this truck never had AC. That would be a lot of tough driving around Washington DC.
I've decided to add this note rather than to relist the truck. If any of the current bidders wishes to retract their bids, I have no problem letting them do so. I am prepared to sign any affidavit that the buyer would provide to swear that, to the best of my knowledge the actual mileage on the truck is indeed 84,000.
If all this turns out to be too big a problem, I will relist the truck. Sorry for the mix-up. I am not happy either.
At the request of some of the bidders, I'm adding photos of the underside of the truck. The pictures include a shot of the bed from underneath, the passenger side floor, and suspension shots front and rear. Hope these are helpful.
