1991 Geo Prizm GSi - Overview:
More Details:
Up for sale is my ultra rare 1991 Geo Prizm GSi hatchback. Only 1 of 237 built in 1991. Probably only a handful left. This could be one of the last Geo Prizm GSi hatchbacks in existence. It's a very unique car—you don't often see Prizm's from this generation, let alone the GSi model. Many Geo's were treated as disposable and junked or crushed after they reached the end of their serviceable life. This one slipped through the cracks and is a survivor!
The GSi package gives you Toyota's twin cam 1.6L 4AGE "Red Top" 4-cylinder making 130hp. GSi models were also equipped with 4-wheel disc brakes, 14 inch alloy wheels, sport suspension with front and rear stabilizer bars, strut tower brace, body-colored side moldings, full instrumentation including tachometer, a rear spoiler, and GSi specific upholstery. All GSi models were built in the GM/Toyota NUMMI plant in Fremont, California. This one has a 5-speed manual transmission.
My GSi has 181k miles on the chassis. It appears as though the engine was replaced in 2008, so mileage on this engine is likely lower. Car runs great and drives without major issues, but as you can see the exterior and interior are in need of some serious love. Body is mostly straight with the exception of a dent on the drivers side door. Paint is very rough. Interior could use a good cleaning.
Buy it, fix it up, bring it to the next Radwood car show. I have too many cars and have realized I'm never going to get around to restoring this one. Own an incredibly rare and obscure piece of GM/Toyota history!
Pros:
Cons:
I've owned the car for 2 1/2 years and have driven it about 2k miles total. Car is currently located in Los Angeles, California but holds a Vermont registration. Will probably need a new catalytic converter if you intend to smog and register in California.
Interested in selling to someone that appreciates the uniqueness and rarity of this GSi. If you want to ship the car, I'm happy to accommodate. Thanks for looking :)
- Incredibly Rare, 1 of 237 Geo Prizm GSi hatchbacks built in 1991.
- A completely forgotten, obscure '90s hot hatch, possibly one of the last '91 Geo Prizm GSi hatchbacks in existence.
- Low volume GSi package comes with special features including a Toyota "Red Top" 4AGE 4-cyl (130hp), sport suspension, disc brakes, alloy wheels, spoiler
- Lots of fun to drive, decently quick (for the era), 5 speed manual
- Paint is in rough shape, dent in door, cracked dash, cracked windshield, but in decent mechanical condition. Runs/drives great. Slight grind going into 3rd (failing synchro maybe). New battery, new-ish tires. New valve cover gasket, new spark plugs/wires, just did an oil change. 181k miles.
- Good project for someone that appreciates the uniqueness and rarity

- New front tires
