Car description

Time for this great bronco to find it's new owner. I bought this baby last fall with the intention of doing a full restoration over the next few years. but just a little way into it. I'm now in a position where I'm better off recouping as much of my investment as possible. So here's what I know about the history on this: I bought it from a co-worker whose father bought it (as the 2nd owner I believe) back in the late 80's. The paint was a couple years old at the time. and apparently the original owner changed it from the original black. You can still see black where some of the yellow has flaked off in the door jambs. The engine was rebuilt about 70K miles ago. and does not use oil. It's a 400 with 2 bbl cleveland heads. edlebrock performer cam. 4 bbl edelbrock performer intake manifold. and 600 cfm edelbrock performer carburetor. It also has hedman long tube headers. but that's not so great considering I'm not a fan of how the exhaust had to be routed due to the length of the headers. It is a pretty loud exhaust. and the engine does have a few small leaks. (most of the time it doesn't even leave a drip) The transmission also seeps out of a couple of seals. I'm just doing my best to be totally up front on this. The bronco actually runs really well. I've used it as a daily driver ever since I bought it. but now there's too much of a commute to justify the fuel it uses. Yeah. it's a little more thirsty than my 4 banger kia :( and I've got my eye on a newer truck I can't afford until this is gone. The engine runs perfect. starts easy. and has tons of power. The transmission shifts perfectly. and the 4X4 also works exactly as designed. gears are 4. 10:1. and it has a factory limited slip that the previous owner tightened up a little bit when he overhauled it a few years back. most. if not all of the bolt-on wear items have been replaced over the years including belts. radiator hoses. radiator. alternator. etc. This is something I would trust to drive across the country so long as you don't plan on going above about 70 continuously. It can definitely go faster. but the fuel economy really drops. Anyway. The lift. tires. and wheels are new since I bought it. Lift is 4. 5" skyjacker with a superlift adjustable track bar. I had to add that because I can't stand how the lift left the axle uncentered without the extended length bar. Wheels are 15x10 mickey thompsons. and tires are 35x13. 50r15 toyo m/t's. I converted the a/c from R12 to R134a a couple months ago (no repairs were necessary. I just did it). and it works great. Cruise control works. but it's a little quirky. It has a factory installed 40 channel CB radio that still works. The dvd player works fine. although I'm not a fan of the screen covering up the heater controls. The tailgate window is power operated. and works great from both the switch on the dash. and the keyhole in the tailgate. All the lights work great. right down to the map lights. It has LED back up lights. and the fancy new headlights from LMC. the factory oil pressure and engine temp gauges no longer work. but the previous owner added aftermarket gauges (visible in photos) that do work. it has delay wipers. and an aftermarket tachometer. The speedometer reads about 5% slower than actual speed since the tires were installed a couple months ago. Transmission is a C6. transfer case is NP 205. axles are dana 44 up front & 9" in the rear. All original except for the engine. I'm not sure. but the short block might also be original. I can verify if needed. There is a little nick in the dash pad on the passenger side (see pics) There are a few dings in the body as you can see in the pictures. For anyone serious about it. you may call or text 2oh8four90one96four between 7am and 10 pm mountain time. There is a larger hole in the carpet in the rear. which is covered up by the mat in the picture. I'm told this is from spilled battery acid long ago. Happy bidding :)On Apr-19-15 at 16:01:56 PDT. seller added the following information:I've had a few people email me the same questions. so I suppose I better clarify. There is nothing wrong with the vehicle to influence me to sell it. The body is in excellent shape for the year. There is actually some old undercoat covering the underside of the body. which has protected it very well from corrosion. I still love the vehicle. I'm just looking to replace it with something more practical for me. If it can't at least meet the reserve. I will either end up re-listing it. selling it locally. or keeping it. Not the end of the world if I can't get what I want. Reserve is set at $5000 to those of you curious. but I do have a lot more than that into it in the short time I've owned it. If I end up keeping it. my next phase of the restoration would be a complete new exhaust. it's loud enough that it's obnoxious at 2800 rpm's and above. and I'm not a fan of how it's routed. I never had plans for a "frame-off" restoration since everything underneath is solid. I'm a big believer in having things work as they should. I also never wanted to make it so nice that I would be afraid to use it. so "show truck" was never in the plans. although it would be an excellent candidate for such a project. It IS mechanically sound. If you intend on buying this. and driving it 1000 miles back home. I have high confidence you'll make it. but it is old. and is for sale AS-IS. so keep that in mind. If you want pictures of anything not posted here. I am more than happy to take any. and email them to you. when you email me through ebay. you will need to provide your direct email as I can't see how to include pictures through the system. I will reply directly through my personal email for pictures. I have some better ones. but I'm limited to the pictures already listed unless I re-list it. For any other questions. just shoot me a message. and I'll reply in a timely manner.
