Car description

Up for auction is what I believe to be one of the nicest 66 Fairlanes out there. The car was treated to a 10 year restoration by a guy that would settle for only the best. The car was built as a replica 427 R-code car. The car started as a rust-free 289 car from southern Kansas. I saw pictures of it after it was chemically dipped and it looked great. Virtually every piece of chrome and trim on the car is N. O. S. Ford parts (much of the reason for the 10 year resto) Anything else was professionally polished or re-anodized. Everything was done. even the dash bezel. The car has a brand new interior kit installed. It is in a salt and pepper blue pattern that look great and goes good with the dark blue metallic exterior color. It has bucket seats with no console. There are under-dash gauges and a vintage N. O. S. Faria tachometer on the steering column. The drive train consists of a "for real deal" 1968 427 side-oiler block that is bored out. 015 over-size. factory steel crank. with Lemans rods. TRW pistons with 10+1 compression. C4E-B camshaft. with crane lifters and pushrods. The heads are ported and flowed 390 GT heads with 2. 190 intakes and 1. 720 exhaust valves. The instake is a 1967 Ford medium riser 2X4 intake. It has new Holley carbs. The engine has a dual point distributor with Tri-Y headers with a balance tube and turbo mufflers. This engine idles and sounds nasty. but is one of the smoothiest running engines I have ever seen. The trans is a 68 top-loader 4-speed with a 390 GT bellhousing and 11 inch clutch and pressure plate. It has a Hurst Comp. Plus shifter witha factory boot. The rear end is a 68 9 inch traction lock with 3. 91 gears. (the spring perches were boxed for extra strength)Everything else on the chassis is either new or rebuilt. The wheels are 7" X 14" off a 70 Mustang with Coker reproduction F-70-14 red line wide ovals. This car was finished in 1999. but looks like it was finished last month. it is really a nice car. The paint and body are in excellent condition with the only problems I can see are a scratch on the passenger side quarter panel that was touched up and doesn't show up on a picture and a very small ding by the passenger door handle that looks like it was overlooked. Having built a number of high end cars I know it would take a bunch of money to re-create on of these cars to this caliber. Feel free to come look at this car or have someone you know look at it. The word is out on this car so the auction could end at any time. If I have forgotten to include anything in this short novel I can be reached at 507-456-2967. Bid with confidence.
