Car description

This car is a perfect car for anyone to get into the model A Ford experience. A previous owner started with a rock solid car with one repaint. He restored (or had it restored) the chassis with hundreds of new part including new Firestone tires that have not had the blue coating washed off yet. Whomever rebuilt the motor knew what they were doing as it is the smoothest running Model A I have ever owned or known. Sadly, the previous owner never finished his dream as he passed away. I don't know if he restored the car or it was in a restoration shop when he passed away but the sheet metal and fenders are excellent. The clear title is still in his name from West Chicago, IL. It is fully DRIVABLE with a new battery. The radiator has 50/50 antifreeze. There are zero leaks. The car only lacks some top wood, top material, 2 of the four seat springs, upholstery and paint. It starts on a dime. With the exception of interior chrome hardware, door and decklid handles, the chrome is all new. Of course there will be smaller items to purchase to complete the car.The running boards are new also. It has the original rumble seat fender step and I purchased a original lower correct step arm and plate. I purchase a perfect original POPOUT ignition switch and two spartan horns (one is mint) that works. I had original keys made and I purchased an original interior rear view mirror, not a cheap reproduction. I was able to find a scarce as hen's teeth 2 piece belt molding that goes around the top material where it meets the sheet metal under the rear window. Model A people will tell you that it can take years to find one. They can sell for up to $600.00. I invested hundreds of dollars in Model A restoration books and about 110 Model A Restorers magazines for reference. The last picture is of the books that I have purchased. Some are the latest available from the Model A Restorer's Club. You will have your own reference library.

Why am I selling? My heart got ahead of my brain. I'm 6 feet tall and weigh 300 pounds. I will never fit in the 13 inches between the correct seat and the steering wheel although there is a reference in one of the books of a way to move the seat back a little. Special Coupes are quite rare. This car was built October 8, 1928 and the motor was built a month later. I assume the bodies and motors came from different warehouses in the production facility. I have included a picture of a Special Coupe restored, I believe in the same color as my car. There are a lot of areas where the original paint is visible. I am starting the auction with a really low price and NO RESERVE! so beginners can afford to get into the hobby at a reasonable price. You will be getting this car a a fraction of what has been spent on the restoration thus far. All the books and magazines are included. There are a lot of loose parts. I can get most of the big ones in the car with the rumble seat lid open and the small items can be boxed. I recommend a closed trailer for transport and I have a local man that will deliver it almost anywhere in a new closed trailer.
