Car description |

For sale is a very well maintained and preserved 1993Mustang GT – last of the vaunted Fox Body, the car that spearheaded the musclecar renaissance in the 1980s. Has only 88,751 Spring/Summer/Fall miles - I just backed it out of the driveway for some pictures against the snow.
5.0L 302 cubic inch V8, with original Borg-Warner T-5 5-speed manual transmission. Black exterior with gray cloth interior, power windows, power locks, power mirrors, driver’s side airbag. Originally purchased from Barber Ford in Holland, Michigan, but was stored winters, summer car only from what I can tell. I purchased the car locally from a retired couple, who had the car in their family since 1997.
Along with a new battery, it also had new Wagner Power Stop brakes put on it less than a year ago, and new BF Goodrich G-Force Comp TA/2tires, with only 3,000 miles on them. Replaced the 27 year-old shocks and struts with Koni Orange ST.R units in September, which are akin to running the expensive Koni Yellows on their softest setting. Makes for a very composed and nice riding car.
Car is remarkably original; still has the original 1993 date coded plug wires, stock 3.08 gears, stock shifter, and stock exhaust manifolds. No cheesy metal cold air kits, has the correct plastic factory style airbox with a new K&N filter, and a fresh oil change with Mobil 1 10w30 and a Motorcraft filter. Still have the original owner’s manuals and functional factory key fob. The only modifications I have been able to locate are:
-Weld-In Sub Frame Connectors
-Strut Tower Brace
-Underdrive pulleys
-Free-flowing Off-Road H-Pipe
-Flowmaster Cat-Back Exhaust
-Rockford Fosgate AM/FM CD player
Having owned four Foxes over the last 28 years, I will say this is by far the most solid and tightest one I’ve owned. Car is rock solid and rattle free, which I would attribute to the sub frame connectors and strut tower brace. These weren’t the most rigid platform for a passenger car and these two simple modifications make a difference in daily driving or just exiting a driveway incline. Doors close with satisfying metallic click, no frame flex or saggy hinges, everything feels solid.
Car runs nice and cool, never gets over halfway on the temp gauge. The previous owner replaced the alternator last year with larger 130amp replacement version, so zero charging issues. If you had a Fox in the early 90sand had underdrive pulleys, the lights would dim a little at idle or a stoplight. Everything remains unchanged with the larger alternator. I started it up for the pictures on 1/2/2021, and it fired right up having not started it for a few weeks, and idle settled right down at 900rpm after a few seconds of cold idle.
Interior is clean, and in great shape. Ash tray door is intact! Map pockets are still pretty decent. Headliner is nice and tight and clean, no rips, tears, stains, burns, or weird smells. Seats aren't ripped or worn. If you shampooed the seats and put in some new floor mats would look new. Driver's seat does have a little bit of lean to it, trim shop quoted me $80 to fix (didn't have a chance to get to it before it snowed). The actual seat material and upholstery are great, doesn't really affect anything, just feels a little weird sometimes.
Power locks and windows all work, even the original key fob still works perfectly. Rear hatch struts are strong and stays all the way open with no sag. The only issue is the power trunk release button in the glove box isn’t working at the moment. Has aftermarket tint added probably 15 years ago. Driver’s side tint has a scratch in it. Easy to address – just remove the tint from the side windows and leave the rear hatch tint alone.
Just a great running and driving car, has the trademark Flowmaster 5.0L Mustang sound, averages 21mpg in mixed driving, starts right up, idles smooth, great response, pulls hard in every gear. Shifts great, clutch engages smoothly. No rust, no accidents. The pinstripe that was added at some point had a couple pieces fleck off in a car wash. All lights and fogs work. For a 5.0LMustang that’s closing in on 30 years old, it feels more like an 8-year old car. Still gets lots of thumbs ups and comments, especially starting up at the gas station. Not going to get $50,000 at Barrett-Jackson like a teal 1993 Cobra might, but as a solid, well-sorted reliable driver of a modern throwback, it’s absolutely perfect in that role.
I have a full Motorcraft tune up kit that I purchased from CJ Pony Parts that I will include with the car. Includes new spark plugs, plug wires, cap, rotor, and fuel filter. Didn’t install yet because as much as I was driving it, it didn't even really need it, and someone might want to keep it original as long as possible.
Auction with reserve. I do have a loan on the car, but my credit union is very easy to work with having sold a car from out of state with them last year. A certified cashiers check will be required before the title is released. Buyer is responsible for pickup of car. No returns or warranties. This is a used, 28-year old car, and I have done my best to portray it as accurately and objectively as possible. If you have any additional questions, feel free to ask.
