1958 FordThunderbird
This is an unmolested 1958 FORD Thunderbird 2door coupe. It has the factory 352 c.i., 300 h.p., V8 engine with a three-speedautomatic transmission. The body tag is pictured but has the followinginformation: Body color – B (Winterset White), Trim package – XM (Gulfstream/Whitevinyl), Date – 06F (June 6th), Transmission – 4 (Cruise-O-Matic), Rear AxleRatio – 1 (3.10 to 1). When these cars were introduced in 1958, it was thefirst year for the four-seater and Uni-body design by Ford and was awarded theMotor Trend Car of the Year in 1958! This body style is the iconic “SquareBird†and was built from 1958 to 1960 making the run of only three years. Distinctivestyling featured quad headlights, a large chrome grille, and prominent tailfins. The Thunderbird interior had bucket seats in front with a full-lengthcenter console running into two rear buckets. The majority of today's moderncars are based on a unibody structure, but in 1958 it was new technology forthe Ford Motor Company. The unit construction process allowed thesecond-generation T-birds to sit long and low. A solid rear axle used coilsprings, and front independent suspension used control-arms and coil springs. To accommodate the back seat, wheelbase was stretched to 113-inches. With anoverall length of 205.4 Inches, overall width of 77 Inches, and an overallheight of 52.5 Inches, this was truly a low riding car for the day. The car isreportedly 3,708 pounds for the hardtop model.
This car is a true survivor and was kept in thecentral valley of California until recently when the owner passed, and his sonbrought it to Reno. This car has been started and driven recently but will needminor work to make it mechanically sound before any long road trips areplanned. As the photos show, everything on the inside and outside is originaland factory installed. The engine compartment is neat but could use a goodcleaning. The odometer reads 21,164.1 as shown in the photos also. The car wasequipped with the Ford Magic Aire and heater with defrost, power steering, power brakes, and an AM radio. As the photos show, the interior will need to beredone, but with all the interior and exterior trim pieces present, nothingwill need to be searched for to complete the project. The tile is clear in thisVIN # H8YH118735 vehicle and it is ready to be sold. Please contact us for moreinformation or to come see the vehicle in person before the auction ends.
There will be a $500.00 nonrefundable depositmade at the close of the auction via PayPal. All forms of payment will beaccepted for the balance but will need to have cleared the bank before the carleaves our possession.
