Car description

Ever want to be the most intimidating and interesting person at every stoplight? This 1968 Ford Galaxie XL Q-Code look like a racecar for the road. And it has the modified numbers-matching 428 V8, upgraded suspension, and awesome growl to back it all up, too.

Ford's Galaxie XL coupe had a new and radical face for 1968. The look was downright sporty with headlights hidden behind the full width grille. The body design retained the kick-up at the rear, which goes particularly well with this fastback roof. So it's the perfect sporty design for a NASCAR-style race upgrade. The paint is a recent application of Lime Gold with copper-like roof. They're two precious metal-style hues that look so good together that the roof color was also used for the hood's racing stripe, full-length pinstriping, and the wheels. So it makes for an attractive total package even before you look at all the cool decals. This coupe gets the stock car appearance right with Holman-Moody's iconic Competition Proven logos. In fact, all the classic badging seems correct, right down to Ford's bright ideal bulb on the trunk. It all makes for a thoughtful, fresh, and uniquely vintage total package.

Inside is more classic style with added performance into the mix. It feels like a true Galaxie XL survivor with front bucket seats that are also wide and plush enough for long trips. And the center console, two-tone upholstery, and wood-like trim are all pure classic pieces. Of course, the Hurst floor shifter, upgraded water temp gauges, and wood-rimmed sports steering wheel are all part of the kind of updates that go with the racecar style of the exterior.

Lift the hood to see the engine bay filled with plenty of blue oval power. This is an Q-code car, which means it was born with a big block 428 cubic-inch V8. And this is still the numbers-matching unit under the hood! Part of the fresh investment meant giving this the full racecar upgrade. That includes a Holley four-barrel carburetor, Edelbrock intake, and MSD distributor. It even looks the part with the long Holman-Moody air grabber, steel braded lines w/AN fittings, and Cobra LeMans valve covers. The dual exhaust feeds the Dynomax mufflers for a wicked sound out of the side-exit pipes. But when you really want to bring the thunder, this has a set out cutouts, too. And don't just look at the exhaust's path; follow it in the undercarriage photos. There you'll see a huge investment in the suspension with a full Hotchkis kit that included new front arms front & rear, sway bars front & rear, springs, and performance shocks. It makes for an awesome performer. Plus, power steering, power brakes, front discs, and the numbers-matching three-speed automatic transmission make it far easier to enjoy driving this coupe than some 'ol racecar.

This has the power, appearance, and roar of a racecar, and so we know you'll love hanging a license plate on it and driving this sleek coupe everywhere. Call today!!!
