I have come to the sad realization that I am not going to get back to my project. As you will see in the pics and work completed, I have loved working on it. I thought as my kids got older I would have more time to work on it but the truth is I have less. For a while I ran Flatcaddy.com (no longer running it) and made/sold solid lifters for the flathead Cadillac community.
I will try to cover the main details but there are so many that I am sure I will miss a ton. Feel free to message me and I will give you my number and we can talk about any questions you have. I have uploaded a ton of pics here for your viewing pleasure : www.perrault.me/hotrod
Big ticket Items:
Frame:
Modified 31 Ford Frame with vin number intact. I had a connection at the DMV so I was able to register, get plates, and get a pink slip very early in the build. Plates, PNO Registration, and pink slip in hand. (also have a set of clear 31 plates restored for when finished). I was planning on a pretty extreme build with radiators attached to the rear kick up. But everything is just tacked so it can all be undone fairly easily. The real value is the couple feet of frame that has the vin number on it because I was able to use that to register it.
Body:
28 Tudor body. It is a little rough and I probably made it a little worse over the years. Body work is definitely not my strength.
Engine:
1948 Cadillac Flathead. It have been magna fluxed and is in near mint shape. I was working with Buddy on the FlatCad project and this was one of his blocks for his build. The engine will come with non-restored original heads but they will also come with two piece custom aluminum heads. The aluminum heads will need to have the park plug holes drilled and tapped and gaskets made but they are ready to go. The engine has a few custom cast dress up items like the valley pans and timing cover (made by fiftyv8 on the HAMB). The crankshaft is freshly ground and it has a custom grind cam shaft to work with the custom solid lifters. It has a polished Burrell 2 x 2 Aluminum Intake Manifold. On top it has the shells of two large logo 97 Strombergs (with all guts in a box). I sadly had the carbs polished and they polished off the large logos. I still shed a tear over that so use them or not but they no longer have the logos.
Transmission:
bullet proof 37 La Salle top shift. It is disassembled now and I was planning to convert to a shorty to be used with a Ford drive shaft. The only work to the tranny case was to mount the ford adapter. I have the proper bell housing to match it up to the 48 Cadillac block.
Mitchel gear splitter under/over drive
Wheels and Tires:
mounted and never used. 600 - 16 tire and tube brand new! Disc brakes on all corners. I know it is not traditional but safety first!
Restored Pedal assembly
Schroeder Steering Box
with quick change BANJO STEERING WHEEL!!! (things are getting out of hand now)
Restored head light and cans
And so much more( I will even throw in my HAMB plate topper). Please check out the pics here and I would be happy to talk about it since it has been a passion for so long.
