When it comes to the new group of young classics, a Cobra like this is king. The 1993 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra packs rarity, power, and poise in a well-preserved package. So it's time to grab this bright and loaded specialty machine while it's still affordable.
The third-generation Mustang was having its swan song in 1993, but the Special Vehicle Team (SVT) at Ford decided to send it off with something extraordinary. They made this final year the one and only time for the Cobra package. The exterior was given subtle upgrades with a new grille up front, vintage pony emblem in place of the blue oval, and chrome cobras on the fenders. The rear has some interesting features such as a unique SVT spoiler, and a new light arrangement not seen since the rare Mustang SVO. The 7-spoke, 17-inch aluminum wheels are unique to these one-year only Cobras, and so it's great to have them looking so sharp. This is a factory Teal car, and that just seems to represent its era nicely. Of course, that shine is also courtesy of a quality respray later in life. A car like this deserves to have a good shine, because you want it to attract attention so you can talk about its rarity. There were only 4,993 Cobras in this single-year batch, and only 1,335 were finished in Teal.
The odometer is believed to reflect this car's full actual mileage (averaging less than 3k miles annually.) That means less use than a daily driver, and the well-preserved interior really highlights this care. Ford had one of the best bucket seats of the era to hug your body, and these are not only finished in a comfy gray cloth, but also there's power bolstering for all-day comfort. And speaking of all-day comfort, the factory air conditioning makes this easy to enjoy any time of year. There are a ton more desirable features, like power windows, power locks, power mirrors, rear defroster, cup holders, tinted windows, the factory AM/FM/cassette stereo, a driver airbag, and a sunroof.
What makes the Cobra so special is the extra engineering. The SVT department started out with the trusty 5.0-liter V8 block, and then did some in-house shopping at Ford Motorsports. This includes the larger valves of the GT-40 cylinder head package, high-flow fuel injectors, performance camshaft, revised computer programming, and a GT-40 intake. The result was one of the meanest cars Ford slipped out the back door, and you take full control of it all with Borg Warner T-5 five-speed manual transmission. This is a correct-looking package right down to the decals. In fact, even the suspension pieces appear to still have markings. And while you're looking at the undercarriage photos, also take note of the suspension upgrades such as sway bars front & rear, improved rear springs, and four-wheel disc brakes. The was even given an engine bay brace and frame connectors to keep it feeling solid on the road.
This is the legend of the single-year Cobra, and you're looking at the rarest color. So you know you can't miss this solid all-around stunner. Call now!
