I restored this car because I wanted this exact car in high school. Now it's time for the next owner.I found this car behind a Queens NY apartment building. The previous owner had just started the restoration and health issues caused him to sell it to me.
My 1970 Torino Cobrajet was born with this motor and trans! Matching 429 and Special Cobrajet C6 (CJ automatics got the HD C6) you can tell from the cast iron nose piece at the drive shaft. I added a 2500 RPM Stall Speed Torque Converter, making it easier to put down road tattoos.
The previous owner had sold off the OE cast iron heads, intake and carb to help fund the restoration. I do not have them!
I do have Aluminum Edelbrock RPM Heads, Aluminum Intake, 850 Double Pumper Carb, Hydraulic Roller Cam, 11.5 to 1 Pistons, Headers, MSD Ing. and it is stroked and bored to 466 cubic inches. The ford 9 inch rear is geared with stock 325's and rated at 1000 HP.You get 580 HP and 600 foot pounds of torque at the flywheel. These numbers were given to me by the man that put the motor together, he used the formula of Cubic inches and performance add ons. You can spin the tires and still cruise at highway speeds.
The original interior was Ginger, the restoration was started with a black interior and I continued that.
It has FACTORY A/C (converted to 134a), Power Steering and Power Front Disc Brakes.
High Back Bucket seats, Console, Retro/Modern Radio.
Everything works ALL Lights, Horn, Turn Signals, Gauges, Cigarate Lighter.
I even added Sequential Turn Signals like the Mustang or Cougar's have.
PLEASE look at the pre-restoration picture! You will see that EVERYTHING has been restored.
The restoration is now 8 years old, The Car Is Not Perfect! Even in the garage you get the bump or bruise here or there.
Runs well on 93 octane! But it Likes an octane booster! The dash, steering wheel and headliner are the original ginger.
NOTE! This is an ORIGINAL A code Black car. Very rare for 1970.
I did not put on the 429 emblems and the Cobra with the spinning wheels on each side and rear of the car. They are available aftermarket. You also get all of the receipts for all of the parts and labor, you get every gas receipt for the last 8 years. You get the Marti report and the trophies the car has won.
Please Note: I have set the price as my minimum to sell the car.If it don't sell. I'll put it away till next year.
