You are looking at a car that most people including Mustang enthusiasts doesn’t even know exists. A 1967 Ford Mustang Lone Star Limited edition. These cars were special made for Texas Ford Dealers to boost sales, much like the California Special and the High Country Special. Although are far less common.
Ford set aside 420 VIN’s to become Lone Star Limited’s, but only 175 were produced. Most were 6 cylinder cars and 289 cars. I have talked to people that have researched these cars and they have never seen an S code Lone Star Limited. This car is a factory S code 390 4V, C6 with factory AC.
However, this car has been upgraded to a 427 FE engine with a dual quad 2x4 427 tunnel wedge intake manifold. A rare intake in itself.
Engine:
- · 1963 427 C3AE-6015-AB
- · 1963 427 Heads
- · C8AX-9424-A Tunnel Wedge 2x4 intake
- · Runs and sounds great
- · Great Oil Pressure
- · Hasn’t been ran a lot so could benefit from a tuneup (plugs, points, etc)
The car still has a C6 transmission. The 9” ford rearend was also upgraded. Instead of the 28 splines axles, it now has a beefy Ford Nodular third member with factory ford 31 spline axles to handle the power of the 427 FE engine.
The car was raced back in the day and the name of the car has been hand painted on both doors giving it a very cool nostalgic touch. The doors read “Infatuation I”.
To turn this car into a drag car the previous owner, who had the car since the 1980’s, installed a roll cage, subframe connectors, driveshaft safety loop, and a fuel cell. The good part about it is that the car was never tubbed or cut up. This car could easily be reversed back into a street car and factory looking mustang. The trunk was not cut either and will accept a factory gas tank.
The body of this car in extremely dry all over, Frame rails, torque box, fender aprons, rockers, doors, trunk area and even the floor pans are extremely solid. The only rust I have seen are a couple very small pin holes in the driver floor which would be a super easy fix, or simply leave them alone.
My plan was to remove the cage, and the fuel cell and install carpet and stock seats back into the car and leave it alone.
The paint is peeling in places and has chips. The previous owner also made the quarters look like 68 and added a 68 Grille in the front. All can be revered back to 67 easily.
The car fires right up and sounds insane. Currently the car is running open headers. It has an electric fuel pump, electric fan, and small charger in place of the alternator, all running on switches. The car has great oil pressure and shifts well in all gears.
Check out the Marti report in the pictures. It’s a very unique, rare, and highly collectible car that most people don’t even know about.
