Car description |

Here is a nice, original,1986 Canyon Red GT Mustang with red interior. I'm sure you all know, but this is the first year of fuel injection in the fox bodies, and the only year with the four headlamps and fuel injection together. Below is a brief description.
Exterior: The Canyon Red paint is pretty much gone, patina to say the least. Good thing about the paint is, it's original, no paint or half ass body work hidden anywhere. Never wrecked, ditched, or roughed up at all I can find. Another great thing is, it's a hard top car, no sunroof, no t-top, rare to find now a days. What you see is what you get, as a body man myself, this is a great thing. The only real dent to speak of is the driver's quarter panel looks to have been bumped in front of the rear wheel. You could pop the moulding off and pull it out maybe without any body work, but again, I wanted to leave it original for the next owner to do what they want. Dent in the passenger fender, could be pushed without paint. All glass looks good. Four new headlamps yesterday. As stated above, the only rust is in the hatch, I have included a rust free one to go with the car. The underside of this car is phenomenal to say the least. K member is perfect with no drag marks or damage. Dry with no leaks from engine, radiator support is damage free, torque boxes are perfect and not crushed or torn, floor pans are dry and really nice as well. Aprons, strut towers, all structure and pinch welds are original undamaged. Rockers and quarters are also beautiful and rust free. Nothing has been altered on the body of this car at all.
Interior: The insides are not torn, mashed flat, or wore out like these cars where bad for after a few years. Seats sit great, not broken or loose at all. I had the full dash pulled and a new heater core installed recently, at the same time I put a nice new reproduction pad on it while it was out. Steering column is tight and is not loose. Door panels are real nice. Carpet is decent. The interior is really in great wear condition, but is just faded from the sun.
Drivetrain: Nothing I can really say about the famous 302 fuel injected motors really that you probably don't already know if you are serious about buying one of these. Runs great, but with the low miles, it should. No leaks or funny noises. Someone added a induction tube, hate these things, but I don't have the original air box to take it off. 5 Speed is smooth with no noises or grinding. Just installed a Hurst Short throw shifter. The rear end has a brand new 4:10 Ford Motorsport gear, installed by a 30 year Ford tech, quiet and done right with friction modifier, all new shims and speedo gear to make the mphs right. Not sure how it's lowered, but it sits and rides right. I had front cast and camber plates put on it and aligned last week. Full 5 lug conversion kit from CJ Pony parts with 87-up struts and knuckles. Weld Pro-Star wheels, 15x4 in the front and 15x8 in the rear with BFG tires. Only have about 50 miles on them. New gas tank and Motorsport 155 pump. Same Ford tech did all work on this car. Exhaust is new shorty headers with h-pipe, Flowmasters through the factory stainless tips. You can tell by driving it, it's not been abused, still tight with no slop.
In closing, you will be hard pressed to find an unmolested 86 GT with original paint, and that has not been raced, wrecked, yanked, jerked, ditched, rusted, or just totally destroyed over the years. I know, I've destroyed many. lol. I bought this from a female in GA and she said it was her high school car and she never let any of her boyfriends abuse it. lol. I gave good money for the car and then spent well over $2000 fixing what needed and changing things how I wanted them. I raced and collected these cars all through the 90s, so I know what they are, and are bringing now a days, so please, no silly low ball offers. I will however, entertain realistic ones. I have been a body tech for over 30 years, so I know what a good body is on a car, and this one is a true original survivor. Third party inspections are also welcomed. A $500 non-refundable deposit is due at auctions end. Please let me know of you have any questions or would like additional pictures of anything. Thanks for looking and take care.
