GR Auto Gallery is pleased to present this beautiful Red 1964 Ford Thunderbird. Powering this ride is a big 390 V8 paired with an automatic transmission. The exterior of this bad bird is a bright red paint job complimenting the ice wite interior. This southern car comes with many new parts including a brake booster, master cylinder, and new wheel cylinders. As well as some extras including the decal kit for the motor, shop manuals, and dealer parts and diagrams. This American classic will make a great driver for you and your family. Please call or email us today for more information.
After the restyling of the Ford Thunderbird in 1964, which was the 4th generation bird, sales were very strong with a reported 92,465 cars sold. This was a 50% increase from the previous year. This was also the only year ever that the word "Thunderbird" was on the front hood instead of the image.
The revised model was initially offered as a hardtop, a convertible or a landau with a vinyl roof and simulated landau irons. The tonneau cover and wire wheels of the Sports Roadster remained available as a dealer-installed option, although only 50 were sold from the factory.
The standard 6.4 Liter 390 cubic inch engine rated at 300 HP would propel the big bird to a top speed of 120 MPH and a 0-60 time in 11 seconds all while doing it with a tremendous ride and style. The new-look they were going for was a more formal or classy look as the sports cars of the US took shape into the muscle cars of the era.
