:
1972 Mustang Mach 1, Rare Q-Code w/ matching Cleveland “Cobra Jet” 351-4V engine. Dark Green Metallic w/ Argent (matte silver) accents paint appears to be original factory paint job. This is very much an untouched original Mach 1, which are getting harder and harder to find.
I am not a professional reseller or car dealer, just a guy who likes old cars. I’m in the unfortunate situation of having a get rid of most of my small car collection because I have more cars than space, time, or money to deal with them anymore. This rare Mach 1 is a good candidate for restoration, although I had preferred to keep it original and untouched as I like a little bit of “character” on my classic cars. I had the engine gone through/tuned and the brakes redone a few years ago by one of the top classic car shops in the area. I have driven the car very little since then. The car starts starts right up and runs good making it a fun driver in its present condition. The interior is in very good shape with no rips/tears or heavily worn out areas.
This car is a unrestored 46 year old car so it is by no means perfect. The original paint is bubbled or peeled off in multiple areas (see pictures as I tried to show those areas as best I could). There are areas of rust showing through paint on lower side panels (see close up pics). A little surface rust on the chrome rims but nothing a little elbow grease couldn’t remove. Front passenger seat is missing two bolts that hold it in place so it rocks quite a bit when you sit on it but it appears to be an easy fix. Upholstery near rear window is untucked (not ripped) and needs some type of clip or something to hold it down.
I bought this car in 2013 from a classic car dealer in Florida and I have never registered the car in California. This car was meant to be a restoration project for me and I never got around to doing anything to it, so the car has been driven sparingly over the past seven years. This car comes with a clean signed over Florida Title/Pink Slip and a bill of sale from the original seller. I will also provide a bill of sale from me along with anything else that the new buyers needs to facilitate an easy transfer.
I want to be clear to the buyer of this car, the car runs good and the brakes work but it is not a daily driver type car at this point. At this point I would classify it as a weekend local driving type of car that looks pretty good at a distance, but overall would have gone through to get it mechanically sound. Visually, the body has some rust areas as I described above and I’d assume that the condition of the underside of the car has some rust issues as well although I’ve never been underneath it to get a proper look. All that being said, these unrestored Q-Code Mach1’s are rare and on a very low-reserve auction the buyer is likely to get an amazing deal.
