Car description

This 1966 Ford Mustang Fastback Restomod takes one of the earliest pony car years and expertly adapts one of the latest supercharged V8s. And it's far more than just a big motor. Everything from the six-speed transmission to the rear suspension was adapted in this restoration to deliver true classic looks that can also handle modern supercar-like power

A first-gen fastback is a rare treat, but it only takes a moment to realize you're looking at something extra special. The bright red paint gives you a clear indication of a serious investment just by how much shine it radiates in the sunlight. The modern clearcoat application is far more advanced than anything that came from the factory in '66, so it perfectly sets the tone for this quality custom build. It's a telltale sign of a big investment all over this car - right down to the mirror-like shine of the bumpers. There's also some serious aggression built into this coupe, but it never loses the classic Mustang appearance. For example, they upgraded to 17-inch wheels to hold better performance tires, but they still look like classic Ford Mag 500 units. The lightweight fiberglass has the twin scoops that resembles the first GT500 (and that's an important connection to remember.)

Inside is a deep red interior with plush carpeting, taut door panels, a smooth dash, clean headliner, and fresh upholstery. It's what you can expect in a fully restored car with less than 2,300 miles on it. But none of that is what first caught your eye. Instead, this shows it's a competition-ready machine with a roll cage, mounted fire extinguisher, and G-Force racing belts. There are classic elements, like the wood-rimmed three-spoke sports steering wheel and factory-style AM/FM radio that's there for display. These are joined by a race-ready set of AutoMeter Sport-Comp gauges and a Hurst shifter. And Carroll Shelby's signature in the dash is there because this one earns its performance image by what's in the engine bay.

Under the hood is a fuel-injected 5.8-liter V8 with a supercharger. It reminds us of the kind of motor that was found in the 2014 Mustang Shelby GT500, and as you recall, that held the crown for the most powerful pony car for many years. This awesome powerhouse started as a Ford Racing long block and went even further by being enhanced and fortified before it went into the car. It includes ARP 2000 pistons, ARP 2000 connection rods, ARP 2000 fittings, beehive valve springs for the four-cam setup, new billet oil pump and gear sprockets, and new 55 lbs injectors. Plus, the supercharger went from a 2.3-liter to a 3.2 unit that now also has a dual pass intercooler with Evans waterless coolant. There's more that went into the monster motor (so call for all the details,) but you can already understand this is a true beast. A mega build like this needs to be fully harnessed, and so you have a strong Tranzilla six-speed manual transmission. It connects to a five-inch aluminum driveshaft on its way to the Auburn locker 36-spline rear end. As you look at this setup in the undercarriage photos, you'll also spot a tubular A-arm front end, triangulated four-link rear, and adjustable coilovers at each wheel. Add in Wilwood 14-inch four-wheel disc brakes, power steering, and BF Goodrich gForce T/As, and you can understand how this beast is quite tamable.

Complete with owner's manual, there are so few miles on the custom build that you'll love the freshness over every inch. In fact, the only problem with a one-of-a-kind like this is that you have to be the first one to grab it if you want it in your garage. Call today!!
