Car description

For those of you not up on your Ford history, the Falcon is the very important and innovative precursor to the Mustang. Without it, the Pony revolution never happens, and cool cars like this 1963 1/2 Ford Falcon Futura are consequently never built. Featuring an attention-grabbing paint job, a recently rebuilt 289 V8 small block, and a 5-speed manual transmission, this 2-door coupe is a refreshing piece of classic Americana motoring that really stands out from the crowd. If you're a fan of the Blue Oval but prefer to go about things a little differently, this Falcon might just be the little muscle car for you.
Of course, this little Falcon Futura has been updated quite a bit from stock, but we'll get to those details soon enough. The first thing you'll notice is that very fresh and gorgeous Burgundy Metallic paint job, which practically leaps off the sheetmetal and slaps you around for a few seconds when you first see it thanks to the metallic flake that was added during the repaint. Finish quality is impressive for a top driver-quality car, with a great gloss that only comes from hours and hours of tedious sanding. The Falcon had new styling in '63 and it was clearly inspired by big brother Galaxie, so while this was an affordable car, it sure didn't look cheap. Good panel alignment is critical on this car with those dramatic side spears and deeply sculpted body panels, so they did their homework and got this one right. Shiny chrome and trim was mostly restored and someone with great vision put it all back together, because there's not a single cut corner or half-hearted piece anywhere to be found on this car. It sparkles at every single level.
The tidy interior with room for four was a big part of the Falcon's appeal, and the black bucket interior in this Futura has been nicely upgraded where it counts. Foreshadowing the arrival of the Mustang a few months later, the aftermarket buckets look racy and work well with the Futura's somewhat split personality. Gorgeous stock door panels were standard equipment in the Falcon, one place where Ford really seemed to splurge on the design budget, and a black dashboard with the camel-hump pad really emphasizes the twin cockpit design. A modern Pilot 3-spoke steering wheel and AutoMeter gauges are the most obvious modifications, but you'll also find a center console with cup holders and an under-dash A/C system that pumps R134a refrigerant into the cabin. We love the industrial look of a Hurst 4-speed shifter just sticking out of the transmission tunnel, and the back seat is roomy enough to be comfortable for adults. There's also a well-finished trunk with a reproduction mat that helps blend the old and new and further.
As you'd expect, most of the big upgrades are under the hood. Most Falcons offered wheezy six-cylinder sprint engines or Ford's 260 cubic inch V8 (which is what this car was born with), but in this Futura there's a stout 289 cubic inch V8 motor that was rebuilt about 2k miles ago and is dressed up for show. A Holley 4-barrel carburetor, chrome air cleaner and valve covers, and a stock-looking ignition system all work together to give it a sporty look that performs extremely well. A T-5 5-speed manual transmission feeds an 8-inch rear that's plenty stout for the 289's torque, and it sounds like a nasty 5.0 with long tube headers and a custom glasspack exhaust system under it. The front suspension is a Mustang II setup that includes a power rack and pinion steering and disc brakes, while the rear suspension features fresh shocks and hardware. New Vintique chrome wheels tuck neatly under the fenders and they carry 195/65/15 front and 205/65/15 rear radials at all four corners.
Rare, fast, and ready to show or go, this Falcon Futura offers a lot of big car fun in a small package that will make everyone smile, especially the driver. Call today!
