Car description

1931 Ford Model A Panel Truck

The Ford Model A can be found in many iterations: coupe, roadster, sedan, pickup and even sedan delivery. The Model A appeased the masses with affordable pricing and various body options all on that frame. While many of these automobiles have gone thru mild to excessive customization losing their showroom original look, some carry on in the form that Henry Ford's design team envisioned.

Restored at one point, used, then safely tucked away, this 1931 Ford Model A Panel Delivery Truck has come to grace our hallowed halls here at the Classic Auto Mall. Replete with battle scars dutifully earned possibly from working the oil fields in Texas we give you this piece of working Americana.

Exterior
With the main body covered in an off shade of white floating over red running boards with worn rubber and red fenders this old A is all there including Texaco badging on the doors and "The Texas Company" on its flanks. Dings, dents, chips, and surface rust are present but minimal invasive rust is showing. Discolored headlights float atop a thin red bar that fronts the chrome trim surrounded radiator. A twin cowled hood sits in front of a flat windshield, and a black vinyl roof covering tops off this piece of history. Tarnished and rusted chrome bumpers hang at each end of this truck with the front showing some twisting. 19" steel wire wheels sit on all for corners and have small chrome hubcaps. 4.75/5.00-19 rubber wraps said wheels and a spare of the same sits on the front of the driver side running board.

Interior
Spartan and utilitarian is the motif for the interior. Worn window cranks and door handles front the black door panels with the driver side being the worst as 2/3rds of it is missing. Twin off blue vinyl covered bucket seats hover over a replacement wood floor that has twin sticks protruding, one for the gear shift and the other for the parking brake. A worn black 4-spoke steering wheel which contains the spark advance control lever and hand throttle fronts a simplistic steel dash. A ribbed aluminum cloverleaf sits front and center showing the speedometer, ignition, fuel gauge, and ampere gauge. A single rear door swings open to reveal white side panels and a wood lined floor that is ready to haul all your oil field supplies.

Drivetrain
Swing open the twin cowled hood and feast your eyes upon 201ci of 4-cylinder cast iron in flathead form. Topped with a 1-barrel carburetor and backed by the correct non-synchronized 3-speed manual transmission all is well and good here.

Undercarriage
A strong steel frame showing only surface rust supports a replaced wooden floor. Transverse leaf springs are standard issue suspension both front and rear along with mechanical drum brakes at all four corners. The underside of the running boards present with surface rust and the only noteworthy invasive rust is at the bottom of the spare tire holder.

A good barn find with all the pieces accounted for. A blank canvas for your inner artist to mold and shape into your own. Come on down to the Classic Auto Mall and feast your eyes on this piece of history that could be your next project to love and caress.
