Garage Kept Motors is pleased to present this 429 Cobra Jet powered 1971 Ford Mustang convertible for consideration. This car comes from a local collection and has a number of tasteful modifications. This is a great looking car with great curb appeal, great sound, and one of the last years of true classic American muscle.
The car was restored in 2012 in Texas, and was a low mileage car at the time of restoration. The driver's side quarter panel was replaced during the restoration process, and door handles were shaved to give the sides of the car a cleaner look. After the changes to the body, the car was painted gloss black. The finish on the paint is very nice, and we all know how hard that can be to achieve on a gloss black car. The exterior is clean with body panels lining up nicely, and chrome and trim in great condition. The interior is tidy and features black seats with silver inserts, wood veneer trim, power windows, power steering, auxiliary gauges, and a vintage look upgraded stereo.
Although the car originally rolled off the production line with a 302 V8 under the hood, it now has a 429 Cobra Jet V8 with a few upgrades mated to a C6 automatic transmission. A Ford 9" rear end with a 3.73 posi traction differential is situated between the rear wheels. A "429 Cobra Jet" engine has a certain ring to it, but add to the fact that it has a number of modifications, it sounds even better. Speaking of sound, the car has Magnaflow mufflers, so hearing the 429's lumpy idle thanks to the cam could be music to your ears. The engine has a Holley 750 carburetor, Weiand hi-rise intake manifold, roller rockers, camshaft, MSD Ignition, and distributor, and of course CJ heads. If you have a car with a big powerful engine, you need to be able to stop said car, so Wilwood 6 piston calipers have been installed up front to help with that process. Foose wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot tires are staggered sizes - 18" front and 20" rear. This clean, sleek Mustang convertible is ready for a new home. Make room for this 429 Cobra Jet powered classic in your garage. Be sure to check out all the photos and video on our main website: Garage Kept Motors.
