You will not be disappointed in this truly rare find! 1939 Ford powered by a 221CID V8 engine with dual 2BBL Carburetors + electric cooling fans + 3 speed manual transmission with live axle suspension and transverse leaf springs + four wheel hydraulically actuated drum brakes. Wheel base 112 inches. 1939 Ford’s had 24 studs cylinder heads and the The headlights migrate to the peaks of the front fenders, still under Ford’s handsome teardrop aerodynamic glass covers. The hood thrust forward with a low V-8 shape grill with vertical bars that suggested the bow of the fast boat cutting through waves. The wider and lower grill aided engine cooling and gave the designers the latitude to illuminate the hood side vents. A sleek modern design, it would continue without substantial change in till new wider and longer bodies were designed in 1941. Other changes were in the wings because 1939 was the last year for the continental style Convertible sedan a distinctive and luxurious model but one which found only a limited audience. The convertible coop also signaling important change. The 112 inch wheelbase introduced in 1934 was being better utilized by the body designers first at Briggs and later when the newly established department design at Ford took over the body style 1937 for the 1938 models. Increased interior space allowed Ford to introduce the club cabriolet in 1936 with an enclosed rear seat. It was offered as a complement to the rumble seat equipped roadsters and Cabriolets but it’s popularity gradually whittled way at the sales of the rumble seat-equipped styles. 1939 would be the last year a Ford came with a factory equipped rumble seat. The demise of the rumble seat equipped Fords ended in the era and a tradition which stretch back to the birth of the modern Model A coupes and roadsters. The rumble seat roadster was an indispensable part of the air of Jazz, Gin Mills and Jalopies making the 1939 Convertibles particularly significant cultural milestones. The Ford has a very nice 8 out of 10 Black Paint with very nice clear coat as you can see in the video and pictures. Paint has scratches, chip touch ups and imperfections.
