1949 Ford F1 (F100) Fire Truck
History: This truck was purchased new in 1949 by Riley Co to serve as a fire truck in the county. It served from 1949 to 1960. The rural fire chief purchased the truck at auction at that time and it served on the farm until his grandson drove it to school (Manhattan High School Kansas) in the early 1980's. Work was done on the truck around that time including new paint and some mechanics. It was then stored in a barn and that is where it sat until I purchased in May 2019
I spent the last year bringing the truck back to life. I have spent countless hours and a few bucks to say the least bringing the truck back to driving and road worthy status.
Fuel system: New carb, fuel lines, fuel filters, electronic fuel pump, hot tanked and cleaned original fuel tank
Electronic: New 12 volt battery (Optima), New cap, rotor, period correct plug wires, points condeser
Brakes: New master cylinder, lines, pads as neeeded
Cooling: Flushed radiator, new hoses, new water pumps (Speedway)
Motor runs perfectly. 20 inches of Mercury at idle and rock steady, all cylinders have good compression and the motor doesn't leak a drop of fluids....Not a drop!
Packed wheel bearings, newer tires and rims, lugs nuts, new window seals front windshield and rear window..... The list goes on and on. There is a lot to bringing these trucks back to life!!
I lowered the front suspension about 3 inches.
The photos really speak for themselves. This is a very honest clean unique truck. This is NOT A RUST BUCKET but there are areas that have some rust and evidence of small rust repairs but it is in fantastic shape for a 70 year old original truck!
I will answer any questions anyone has about the truck. The truck runs and drives as a 1949 F1 should. It is not a show truck by any stretch but it is parade ready and stops traffic whenever I take it out for a drive.
Buy it now price INCLUDES delivery within 500 miles of Manhattan Kansas! I am a one stop shop. I will deliver the truck to your front door with a clean Kansas title.
I am seeking a educated buyer who knows what they are buying. Please understand this is a 70 year old truck with 70 year old original parts. It was never designed to drive down interstate at 80mph!! It does not have power steering, power brakes or seat belts!! I would recommend this truck to be driven in town to Home depot or 4th of July parades. I have let my friends and family use it for Christmas Pictures and weddings.
Truck has not been converted to 12 volt. It runs great with the 12 volt battery but it is not being charged while you drive. I will include a 6 volt battery with purchase if you wish to keep it as 6 volt system. Most everything works on the truck including the vacuum windshield wiper motor. Speedo does not work, brake lights and head lights not hooked up but are new units (Model A brand new tail lights!)
Oh and yes that is a Louis Batton handbag that makes the glove box compartment. Gotta make the wife happy!!
Let me know what you think, I am easy to deal with and looking to make someone a very fair deal on a truck that I swear has a soul!
