Car description |
---|
I am selling our Model T we had at our farm in Maine. My oldest son still lives there (UPS driver) and has the vehicle in his possession. The T has been rebuilt with a chassis from an original, ironically, Florida Model T truck. The side boards are from another vehicle as are the transmission and engine. The transmission now has kevlar bands for long life and the engine rebuild was with aluminum alloy pistons. The "build" was done by George Simmons of Bradford, Maine, a man well known for his knowledge and mechanical skills concerning Model T's. I bought the vehicle from George about 5 years ago. Me and my boys just puttered her around the farm and on the dirt road occasionally. I bought it because I always wanted one since I was a kid, but we moved to South Florida last Fall and I left her behind with my oldest son. He's tired of storing her for me, and there is no since me having her hauled to Florida as I wouldn't drive her now that I've had my time with her. Such is the nature of Model T ownership. George built her about 7 years before I bought the vehicle, so the "restoration/build" is a dozen years old. I never licensed her for road use, so there is no registration for the vehicle. I will provide the buyer with a Bill of Sale which is all that is legally required for a vehicle of this age. Ask your local clerk where you register your vehicles if you have concerns. The body is in very good shape with only light surface rust. There is also light surface rust in the sparkplug wells where rain water got on top of the engine. I intentionally did not clean, or wipe, this away so the viewer can see the very light rust. The carburetor could stand a rebuild and the radiator has a slow leak, so you will need to top it off before driving. She doesn't smoke and the engine is tight and strong. Transmission is in great shape too. Custom radiator cap, Maine 1923 matching license plates, front and back, and a siren, spot light, wolf whistle to boot. Electric Start. The headlights work, but need rewiring and the custom wood body has some minor water damage where I left her out in the weather for several weeks in the Spring of 2019. The wooden body just looks more authentic now. It was pristine before I let mother nature add her patina. Still has original 6 Volt wiring, but refitted with a distributor cap. Spark plugs are three years old. Wheels in good shape, tires are anywhere from 50 to 70%. For right at a hundred years old she's a good vehicle overall and an affordable opportunity to get into a Model T, have some fun, and resell her and get your money back, or pass her down to your heirs. Wouldn't take much to get her back to top condition.I will be simultaneously listing the vehicle on Craigslist in Maine, so I reserve the right to end the auction early for local sale or in response to a reasonable offer. Strike while the iron is hot, don't be a day late on this one. You know what you are looking at. I intend to accept the first reasonable offer. As the vehicle has no warranty the buyer is purchasing AS-IS and the $500.00 deposit is non-refundable, so I am looking for serious bidders only please. In fact, if your feedback rating is less than 10 I will cancel your bid. The winning bidder must remove the vehicle by Thursday, June 11th, as my son is moving over the weekend of June 13th, needs Friday and Saturday to get packed and moved. I have a video of the T running, so message me if you are serious. The Model T is stored under roof in Levant, Penobscot County, Maine. That's just a few miles outside of Bangor. Maine is beautiful this time of year and you should make time to visit Acadia National Park which is only an hour and a half away from the Model T. Eat some Lobster while you're there. You won't regret it! Make some memories. The Model T fits on a UHaul trailer. Since the bidding starts at a Penny, someone is going to own a nice Model T. Bon Chance! On Jun-02-20 at 17:34:57 PDT, seller added the following information:
The Model T will NOT be on Craigslist Maine. My son just called and said Craigslist app is asking for a Credit Card to post Automobiles for Sale. I did not know that. My apologies; however, it is still for sale locally. Look closely at last photo and contact me for video of the T running. She sounds really good.
