1971 MACH 1 4SPD

Up for auction is a beautiful 71 M code 351C 4spd stripe delete Mach 1. I purchased this car from the original owner in 2017 & he had a hard time letting her go. He had recently graduated from University & became a design engineer for Ford at the Canadian Windsor plant. He was 23 & started in the fall of 1970 & when he saw the new design for the 71 Mach 1 & he was hooked. Not having a lot of money he ordered this car as a bear bones mach 1 with the M code 351 & a Hurst equipped 4 spd. He wanted the Raven black & Red vermilion interior which is in perfect condition & I think is a beautiful color combo. When the car arrived at the dealership for pickup he had them change the rear axle from the standard 3.25 to a 4.11 Detroit locker that came from Ford & which is still in the car today. He wanted a street racer. As years past, he got married, kids came along & the car sat in the garage for years. In 85 he decided to redo the car & enjoyed it for years on wknd cruises, but again the car was put into storage from 1995 to 2017 when I bought it. He really had a hard time letting her go but knew it was time for someone else to enjoy her. The engine was never touched & it runs strong but it is starting to smoke a little. It should get a rebuild but I would leave it stock. So according to the marti report this is one of only 54 produced with the Raven Black & red vermilion interior. Also it is one of the lowest option cars I have ever seen. It came with the standard Mach1 one pkg & only 2 additional options. An AM radio & raised white letter 14 inch tires. I love the dog dish caps & trim rings & it has manual drum brakes all around & he added the power steering in 85 as well. No tach or gauges either.
