1983 AURORA COBRA GRX. Factory-built Ford Cobra, produced in Canada from 1979 to 1983, this is 1 of 154 produced. Sticker price of $32,800 in 1983! (NOTE: This is a 1983 car; the eBay VIN form insists it is a 1963 car- and while that is the "style" car it is, the car was manufactured and sold in 1983)Engine completely rebuilt in 2020 at 50,000 miles. GT40 aluminum heads, Edelbrock aluminum intake to GT40 specs- estimated at 364 horsepower; 4 speed transmission. New Dayton AC Cobra 70-spoke wire wheels ($3,750.00 for the set of four). New, period correct Vredestein tyres, driven less than 10 miles, as of May 2020. All mechanicals “gone through,†2019 to 2020. New heater core, new radiator, Spring 2020. Wildwood high perf brake calipers, nearly new brake pads front and rear. Needs carpet in cockpit, and should have carpet installed in trunk. The Ford Aurora GRX Mk II was not in any way a “kit car.†This was a 100% factory built automobile, assembled in Richmond Hill Ontario, Canada, and DOT compliant in all 50 states at the time of manufacture. This very rare run of 289 Cobras was sold at Ford dealers 1979-1983, with a Ford warranty. This is the third one of these I’ve owned since 1998, and I have researched these cars extensively since they were in dealerships, new. This car is completely reliable and safe to operate in all driving situations. The previous 1983 Aurora Cobra I owned (which was my second one of these), I drove to commute from NC to SC (187 mile trip each way= 375 miles round trip). Never broke down or left me stranded. My point: This factory built automobile is the most “streetable,†most dependably functional Cobra built . . . ever. The original engines were shipped to Holman and Moody in North Carolina for "tuning" before installation at the Aurora factory. Aurora Cars Limited manufactured these 1963-style AC Cobras in exacting detail. The Aurora GRX Mk II Cobra was manufactured with a dual plane tubular space frame, four-wheel independent suspension, disc brakes at all 4 corners (inboard rear for less unsprung weight); Salisbury (Jaguar) differential. The Aurora was the only Ford Cobra subjected to the rigors of US Department of Transportation (DOT) specifications and trials and EPA compliance. At the time (1979-1983), this meant crash testing. elaborate emissions suppression, steel reinforced doors / side-impact protection, and more. Every Aurora was delivered street legal in 50 states- an achievement unique to the Aurora Cobras only. Here is a chance to own one of the rarest of all Cobras. This example has had only 2 owners in its 37 year life. The original top is included, along with original side curtains. Never wrecked, never raced, never damaged. The car has been stored inside for most of its life. TERMS: Buyer to pay $500 deposit via paypal upon auction close. Balance due within 10 days; Car must be picked up within 30 days.
